I know the GX100 goes from 2.5 to 4. something aperture over it's effective focal length range. I was just curious what the max aperture is at the 35mm equivalent.

I do a lot of my night street shooting at 35mm and wide open and was wondering what I could expect. I know it's sort of hocus pocus as I don't really believe the ISO numbers on digital cameras really equate to film speed and the digital shake reduction thing adds two stops they say but I'm trying to figure if its' fast enough at 400 or 800 ISO with the anti-shake at 35mm or if the lens has stopped down too much at this point.

Thanks,

Thanks for taking the time to do that.

I ordered one yesterday. Hopefully the anti-shake thing really give me two stops equivalent. In any case I guess it's no worse than the G9 or anything else at 35 and only a little worse than the GRD at 28.

Nightfly,

Please post your impression, once you get the GX100, of how it compares to the G9 and the GRD. I'm thinking of finally buying a digi and those are the 3 that are on my list. Right now it seems like the IQ on the GRD is the best, and so even though it's not as versatile I'll probably go for that. But, I'd love to hear your thoughts once you've used all three. Especially when it comes to night shots, because I do a lot of that as well.

Thanks.

I saw your Tokyo photos in Flickr.
Nov. 07 issue of Digi CAPA has a " Complete Comparison of Posh Compacts" on GX100, P5100, G9 and SD950IS.
I'll take P5100.

Thanks for the tip. Do you know if it's possible to get that magazine (in english) in the states? I tried googling it, but didn't find much. Seems like it would be a good thing for me to read though.

Why do you think the P5100 would be your choice? That seems to be the one I hear the least about of those cameras.
