Or possibly Kodak Hawkeye Surveillance Film 2485. There was quite a bit of this, in 150-foot rolls, on ebay a year or two ago. I've got a few rolls in the fridge. 🙂

The bin-cameras have been around here in the Netherlands for a few years.
Someone even got arrested over moving one once, because it was too close to the road and causing a hazard...go figure.

Another sneaky one is small trailer by the side of the road with a tarp over it.

I don't mind speed cameras near dangerous areas like school routes, but those along the freeway are just plain cash-generators.

The regular fixed speed cameras don't tend to live long when they're turned on. In my area the 4 that were place along a 100kmph road were all run-over, burnt or spray-painted within a week. The police can't replace them because the insurance company no longer covers them.

One trick I heard with the dreaded speed cameras was to have a slave flash mounted next to your number plates ... when the speed camera flashes you it triggers the slave causing an over exposure white out. Sounds feasible! 🙂

Back when they were all film based, infrared reflective paint was another favourite.

But these days three out of four speed traps are of the new digital type where they will hold you up, complete with the electronically transmitted proof of your violation, one block down the street - if you hit such a thing with that flash contraption or a re-painted number plate, they'll catch you nonetheless and fine you additionally for a manipulated plate or illegal lights.
