I have my first Rollei 35 for couple of weeks now.
Surprisingly, joy to use, even with dysfunctioning light meter.

Tuanvinh, Robert, thank you both for the kind words!
Tuanvinh, I never use filters with my Rolleis, only lens hoods. The exposure in this photo wasn´t hard, I simply exposed at 1/8 and f4. (1/8 is the longest time my 35S takes without problems). From my experience I knew that there would be enough light in the the dark areas to make the stairs recognizeable. I shot another one with less window visible, but the glow in this version is better.
Robert, my compilation is not always thoughtful; sometimes I love mediocre photos too much to edit them out! Thanks for promoting my blog!

Zeno, that's quite a low shutter speed to handhold such a small camera
i did go down to that slow once i think but at night it's usually 1/30 f2.8 for me. i really enjoy your blog, the photos reflect the free spirit of the rollei in the sense it's more relaxed, less boxed composition (not that it lacks composition). and i admire your use of slow shutter speeds and dedication!

Thank you!
I always found the longer speeds easy to hold on the Rollei. I think this camera was designed for my hands (interstingly, another camera that is as joyful to hold is the Nikon D100 (or the F90). Many other little cameras like the Minox 35 or the OLympus XA series are "painful" for me to hold.

This is my first time here!
I sold Leica M4-P because I need the money.
Instead, I bought cheap rollei 35 (made by singapore) few days ago and I am fully pleased!

As well you should be! Very nice, well-focused scale images.
Welcome to RFf!

A couple from the second roll I've shot with my 35s (Tri-X). I still haven't quite got the hang of the scale focusing, but every once in a while I get lucky!

i'm gonna get mine back from my tech hopefully this coming week. i've always been impressed with the IQ from the little sonnar, but maybe once every 50 shots i'll be absolutely blown away.
hopefully he was able to smoothen up the shutter release action. the best way i can describe it is that it was feeling like a small chicken bone or something breaking -- not sure if that's normal or not -- it wasn't particularly high effort, just press a bit, and then a distinct *SNAP* and the shutter would trip.

I have two Singapore 35S's, and that's exactly the way they feel!
On a slightly different note: I just discovered that the Optech D-Micro pouch seems to have been designed precisely for the Rollei 35. It's a perfect fit. I'm very happy with it.
