Rules CameraQuest 21/1.8 Street Photogaphy Contest

Stephen,

if I'm not mistaken, the competition was supposed to be open for new entries until end of Jan. and then voting should start.
I just checked out the competition gallery and a lot of pictures do have votes, mostly only a single vote and surprisingly most of them only a rating of "1".

I assume someone with a very strange sense of competitiveness gave a generous freebee round of low ratings to most members.
As we had a separate thread about low ratings, this seems to be something strange...

I would very much prefer to have the rating system like it has been in the old gallery, i.e. not anonymous. I'm not sure if this is also possible for the new gallery. Maybe this wouldn't work competition but I have also no idea how to cap ratings for manipulative purpose.

Obviously the generous prize is so tempting, that some folks forget about sportsmanship, sad thing.

views, ratings, and votes are not the same thing.
voting has not started yet.

soon the ratings will not be anonymous.

Chrome on Windows 7 - also tried IE9 but still greyed out.

It is the only category that is greyed out - I can post to any other gallery!

Cheers
Simon

You have two pics in the contest gallery,
that's the limit, you can not upload more.

This is a strange contest:

I can see just one of my contest pictures in the competition gallery, the other one was visible adjacent to it a day or two ago. Today there is no trace of my second picture.

If I click on my name (under the still visible picture), there is the pair, but in the competition folder it is no longer visible, I searched all 8 panels.

Where did it go? Who took it out of the competition?

It does not really matter , does it. Just curious.

Maybe I should try submitting another one, but how can I 'delete' the lost one first ???

I may have experienced the same issue today but I realized what the problem was. In my case I edited the notes for the picture because I had put the wrong city.

Editing apparently sets the gallery category back to the default unless you explicitly pick the Contest category before applying the changes.

If you mistakenly reset the category you can just go to the My Photos section and edit the category for the photo there.

Thank you, Ben. One of mine disappeared and you've explained why. Appreciate it.

if you know a categoryid just use it like this

instead of the url ending like this standardgallery.php

make it end like this

standardgallery.php?photocategoryid=9317&showall

there is no place for that info. once you upload the photo you can add photographer notes and put them in there.

Figured it out!

For those of you that your photo is not going in the contest, you can edit your photo info after upload and change the category section and it will add.

Votes? Voting?

Votes? Voting?

I hope I'm not being too dense... have the voting procedures been explained somewhere?

1. How do you vote?

2. Is it really just one vote per member? So (if you have an entry) you can either vote for your own entry or else have to vote for someone else's? Would be nice (since you can enter up to two photographs) to have three votes.

Anyway, could someone explain or point me to the explanation?

Thanks,
Tom

3 votes? LOL, why not 100 votes ?
nope, only one vote.

Before anyone asks, once you vote for the best pic, your vote will not be changed.

BTW, Entries are CLOSED. Modifying your entry in any way will automatically delete that entry.

Entries that did not follow the guidelines, like more than two entries, or pics using SLRs, will be disqualified.

Voting will be enabled Sunday or Monday - for one week. After voting is closed, votes by ineligible voters - those joining after Dec 16 -- will be subtracted from the totals to determine the winner. Some added multiple ID's after the contest was announced to make multiple votes.

Cheers,

Stephen

I should have read this before :( I just put one of my submissions out of contention. I mistakenly assigned a wrong camera, went it to correct it and bam!.

Oh well, hopefuly next time ... :)

Sorry if this has already been answered or specified but I was unable to find this piece of information : How and when do we vote?

Thanks!
