My new R-D1s has a really scratchy shutter button.
Even my Bessa R2a has a smoother release, not to mention my M6.
Is something wrong?
Each time I press it, it's a bit like grinding, scratching on the internals?
Is this normal?

It is not normal but perhaps there is just some dust in the release.
Try to blow out around the shutter button with compressed air.
Got used to do it each time i blow out the sensor personally but my releases have never been as scratchy as yours so far.

If dust is not the reason then Rich Cutler has an article about smoothing the release:

Mine is also a bit scratchy, but not to an extent that bothers me.
