Just curious as to who lives in my area. I know there are RFF meetings in some other cities around the world. Have we had any in Seattle? If we have not, I would be game. Would be kinda nice to meet (in person) other people with very similar interests once in a while.

yeah, that's close enough. Anyone else want to join the party, here? How about expanding the region to include the reasonable areas of the puget sound/over the cascades, even. Anyone, simply, that would make the journey to some central place.

Well I live in Skagit County, Burlington 60 miles north of Seattle. I would be up for a get together.

Evergreen in January? With all the trustafarians from sunnier parts of the country being super depressed becuase it won't stop raining? With the massive puddles that make it impossible to walk from one part of the campus to another without getting your shoes wet? Looking at another pile of undone evals from last quarter?

Yeah, I'd want a break from that glory as well. Even if it was just up to Seattle for the day.

Aw, it ain't as bad as all that. Rumor has it there's going to be a jet-skiing party at Yauger Park, where the rain has caused the entire park to be covered in four feet of water. 😉

Seriously though, you've hit the nail on the head. But I'm probably heading up that way anyway for my documentary class, might as well stop in Seattle and have a beer. 🙂

OK, then, how about a consensus on a location and time? For me, pretty much any day but Tuesday, and pretty much any time of day. As far as locations, I would be willing to go as far south as Tacoma and as far north as Everett, so in other words, maybe an hour and a half from home.

OK, so we have :

rpsawin (Bob) - seattle
plummerl (larry) - seattle
Dave Matison - seattle
Onespeed - whidbey
Stan98103 - seattle
joshroot - Anacortes
tetrisattack(conor) - Olympia
lkgroup(leo) - Skagit
Gordon Coale - whidbey
shutterflower(George) - Seattle-ish

and I assume that we have consensus on Seattle as the meeting place. So far, at least.

Here is the info on the Elysian, if that ends up being our venue :

http://www.elysianbrewing.com/

maps are on the site with a little looking

there are two possible Elysian locations, Tangletown and Capitol Hill

here is the Capitol Hill phone number : 206.860.1920
and Tangletown : 206.547.5929

The one with the best parking, obviously, is the best choice.

Parking should be a major concern, since parking in Seattle can be nearly impossible for rookies. Myself, for instance. And expensive when you choose poorly - also, generally, how it ends up in my case. Try to decide on a time and place when and where parking will be possible for a number of people. That will be also nearly impossible.

The Elysian is a cool, photographer friendly place, from what I gathered on my occasions there. Lots of photos on the walls. Good beer too. But, with parking in mind, choosing a less stylish place might also be a thought. Somewhere with a parking lot, for instance. I am not sure whether either of the Elysians have parking. Anyone knows?

As some of you already know, street shooting in downtown Olympia is very interesting..... hint, hint (I detest driving/parking in Seattle).
Anyone discussed a time/date yet, other than as a Saturday?
