Selsey/Selis and Modern flash?

The big challenge would be the wire connection... you'd need something to get from the bi-post connection on the baseplate sync unit to Female PC.

I won't swear to it, but I think you would be limited to setting the shutter at 1/30th to sync properly with the strobe.

There was a two-post connector used on prewar Exaktas which could be modified to fit it, but if you have a PC socket, you would probably be better off making your own adapter. Do you have a camera with the necessary slot in the cam to interface with the sync device? They are few and far between, and it's difficult drilling one- the cam is hardened steel.

Dez, the camera I was looking at has a matched Selsey base.
This was more a question of curiosity, than necessity.

Ooh, DIY cables, right up my alley!
Any links? Ill have to do a little more research!

Thank you both for your responses! Much appreciated!

I'd make something out of a piece of circuit board and a PC socket, possibly cannibalized from a cable. You will need to make/find two pins of the appropriate diameter. Determine which terminal is live and which is grounded to the shell of the camera, and hook up the socket appropriately.

Thanks for the continued support!
I chose to go with a IIIF RD ST instead, I picked it up for 1/4 of what I had planned to spend on the IIIc. No brainier for me, just wanted a wide angle body with flash, and of course impeccable style!

I've had to do similiar experiments with a Contax G1 battery chamber, for my battery grip project. I discovered I can easily ground my dummy battery to the tripod socket, with no fuss in attempting to make contact with the bat. Door threads. Works nicely!
