The Postman finally came!!

I bought the mint J-9 on Yuri's website, and as usual, the product is as good as described. Usually it is better than described, but you can't get much better than mint I don't guess.

I'm not able to use a film camera right now and this old digital wont do low light to well, the exposure was 16 seconds @ F8 in order to get some depth of field, so there are a few hot pixels.

Was it worth the money? Well it was to me, I want a set of mint lenses, and I will likely get some rougher examples later.

The bad part is that I have already turned in film this week for a local project so I won't get to see how sharp she is till the weekend, but the good thing is I'm sure to get at least one decent picture on film by then.

I have got to start developing my own negatives. :bang:

Go for it. Lots of good threads here to help you start. Doing your own processing is the second half of the photography whole.

I want a J8 first. (black)

Yeah, a J-8 is one I want too, I already have a fifty though, I'm really wanting a fast 50 next, but momma keeps my unit locked tight in a box on the shelf, and if I tell her that, she'll say "you already have one 50mm, you don't need any more."

However, a wide angle is really important for the largish indoor group shot right? :)

Exactly Kevin, I love the black and white look so it wont be real hard or expensive to get going.

Then if the lab doesn't get the push right, I only have to get pissed once :)

Keith
I have not had a dark room for many years but I got tired of digital ( Canon 300D ) and have bought a bunch of russian and german cameras. I am also setting up a darkroom in a corner of my bedroom ( I have a work bench there) and have much of what I need to start. I just ran a roll through my Canon F1 and am running another through a Zeiss Nettar with attached range finder I got on ebay. I like the range finder, a Votar, but don't know if it is German or FSU?

To bolster my desire to go back to film, I just started teaching a basic photography class for members of my camera club. Brings back many memories. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Nettar does (I'm using Chinese film in it, wanted to try it out.the film is Shanghai 100 asa. The only problem I see is the backing is black and the numbers are in gray, makes it hard to see the frame numbers. Next time i'll try Lucky film) I'm itching to begin.

I got two J12 lenses, one in Kiev/Contax mount and the other in M39 mount. I used the M39 on my F1, LOL, looks weird. As I said, I have no idea how it will look on film but the lens does look good.

Later
Michael :p
