Shooting Eastman (Double-X) 5222 in the Leica

8723368794_3f8f52a98a_z.jpg

Running some XX at the moment. This in the Leica IIIc/f conversion I "swopped" with TomA. Canon 35mm LTM f2.
Rodinal 1:100 semi stand 1 hr. Four turns to start and four good raps for bubbles then two at about 30 mins and a couple of raps. Sunny sixteen rated at 200/250 (200 in the IIIc/f a marked speed )
This hand held at 1/15th love that soft shutter. Costa Coffee Shop Lancaster UK.

Hint:- Don't go upstairs with a full tray of coffee carrying a camera bag and camera around the neck, been there done that.

Some excellent 5222 photos posted here, recently.

Yesterday I scored a very worthwhile book at our new local photo emporium. "The Darkroom Cookbook" by Steven G. Anchell. Will prove useful for my 5222 experiments.

That is nice Chris.
Didn`t know that there was an upstairs though :)

I am curious about stand development of XX using HC-110 which is the only developer I have handy at the moment. Has anyone tried that (or some form of semi-stand) and if so what would be your recommended times when exposing rolls at 200 and 400?

I searched the thread and only found Tom A's comment in this post.

Cheers and TIA
Philip

Here are some starting times and EI's for XX and HC-110 "B" dilution:

Yes I saw those before, but thanks. I'm wondering about (semi)stand development though.

There's a guy on APUG named rapakpan (or something like that). Who sells DX coded versions.

This Guy was selling XX on Apug, in 100' cans, for $55 each. Looks like they went pretty quickly, though. Here's the link:

The cheapest way to get this film is still straight from Kodak, but you do have to spring for 400'.

Oh wow, if its dust free, probably not a bad deal, kind of a pain to re-roll 400feet into 100 feet to put into a loader... And really the price is like $170 for 400 feet so at $55 it really isn't a bad deal...

Okay, you guys have my attention!

Going to look into this film a lot more as it is nearing time to stock up! Keep posting your XX images and thanks for this thread!:)

Whew! I am impressed! Read the first 11 pages and my head is spinning. Checked Flickr and Flickriver for photos and even more impressed!

Two of you guys have me getting some XX film in the coming weeks and I am just now starting to develop my own film...hopefully over the weekend I will do my first roll of Arista Premium 400 on my own. Just got the D76 developer, Kodak fixer and Kodak stop bath for that.

Looks like I may try the same with a couple of rolls of XX soon!

It occurred to me that XX film will be a good match for the Nokton 50mm 1.5 lens that I am currently shooting. Can't wait!

Very nice. Any issues scanning the Pyro negatives? I have used PMK+ with XX and really like the tonality. But there was some image color from the Pyro stain.
