Show me a nice old car

This fellow is a retired professional photographer who decided he'd try his hand at cars. This is a 1947 Mercury, or used to be. He did all the design work and custom fabrication work himself, by himself. Fit and finish is immaculate. I asked him how long he'd had it and how long it took him to finish it. He said he'd had it 16 years, finished it two years ago, the first 14 years were spent working on it. He said the only thing which hadn't been altered from the stock '47 Merc was the rear window.

The hood opens, smoothly, first straight up, then tilts, by means of two electric motors attached to the two rods at the front.

Spotted this bright blue 1971-72 International Harvester Scout II, parked just one street over from our house. Sometimes you don't have to go far to find something interesting!

Havana - waiting to pick up a bride and groom from their wedding and drive them around town to show off. This was mid day in the summer so those red leather seats were almost hot enough to fry an egg.

Havana - this car was being driven while being prepped for painting. These cars are normally painted out in the street by waiting for a time when there is no wind blowing. This was across the street from where I stay when in town.

To practice camera scanning, I've been going through some old negatives from when I had less of an idea about proper exposure and development times were a suggestion. Modern software is amazingly good ad finding the details and adjusting for a decent image. Nikon Ftn, Nikkor 24 2.8, Tri-X (Pan), D-76:
