This is the original Subaru Kei car from the 1960s. I believe it was sold briefly in the US as the Subaru 360 (as in 360 cc engine). It was our first exposure to the brand.

Back around the Spanish-American War Subaru broke into the American market with these cars, around the mid - late 70's. They bragged you could put 30 or 40 soccer balls into the luggage compartment and pitched that. The Subaru dealers, supposedly, had to sell a raft-load of 360's before they could get the four stroke cars. This is way back before Joe Subaru, of course. They were not much of a car, but that YouTube link is to a guy on Portland, OR, who loves them.
