Just really thinking about this lens. Does it really give you the extra for a low light shot? How are the ergonomics? Image IQ?

I have had this lens for a couple of months now. I really want to hate it because of the size, but every time I use it I kick myself for not using it more because I like the results so much. I'll try to post a pic or two later tonight/tomorrow when I have time. And yes, it does let you shoot in surprisingly low light.

I do love this lens very much. And though sometimes it is difficult to use (heavy + shallow dof) it is one of my favourites.
I believe I have already posted many of these pics in similar threads but since you ask.. here is my love (may be again..):

I sold mine because it was too bulky for my taste, though I have always loved the results. The church was shot stopped down, while the photo of my son is shot wide open.

And yes, it does give you an extra kick in available darkness. If that's what you want, then you would love it. Enough sharpness and character wide open, and performs excellently stopped down.

It even does sports at 1.1 (although this may have been a "soft stop" somewhere between 1.1 and 1.4 to reduce the "ghosting" I often see at 1.1):

Here's a typical 1.1 example just moments earlier (see the shirt of the second person from right):

Wide open the highlights can be deadly--not great with lamps, but as in last shot, stopped down it does nice things with the whites :)
