Leica LTM Show off your Leica I/II/III/LTM Camera

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Originally I was looking for a Leica IIIb body, but as I saw this black beauty, I couldn't resist:

This Leica III and the nickel Elmar are both from 1934.

Interesting thing is that the lens mount is still marked with an "0".

The camera body seems to work well at first glance, but both lenses need to be cleaned.

Cleaned and lubricated mechanical parts, adjusted shutter tension to correct standard.
Cleaned finders. Glued loose Vulcanite on shell.
The two round metal rings on rangefinder were all loose, glued with watch crystal glue.

A Leica II and Leica III (converted from either a model 1a or 1c). These will never end up in museums or on collectors shelves and are more ‘brass’ than ‘black’! They make up my ‘everyday bag’ and are in regular use.

I am turning 40 this year, but my interest with Leitz started in my teens when I was given my Grandad’s negatives mainly from the 1930’s & 40’s (he used a Nagel Vollenda with an Elmar lens). I purchased my first Leica in the early 90’s and owned several LTM bodies over the years but sold everything when I went totally digital – something I regret to this day!

I went back to film about 5 years ago purchasing the III first and the II about a year ago. I’ve used many cameras over the years, but for me these two are pretty much perfect!

I’ve tried not to be overly materialistic; never wanted a lot of “stuff”. But I have had, from my youth, a short list of things I’d like to have … one-of-these-days.

Since enjoying photography at a very early age and getting into [basement] darkroom experience in high school as yearbook & newspaper photographer, I told myself that one-of-these-days I’d like to have a Leica, one like my dad used to have. So a few years back, thanks in part to the encouragement from folks at this RFF *establishment*, I decided that hitting the 50 yr. milestone was enough of “these days” to get that Leica, so I did. And just to be sure, I got me another one.

The other item on my list was added in my mid-twenties. I got to messin’ around with dad’s ol’ Gibson guitar, bought a book to learn some chords and taught myself a few songs. I enjoyed playing enough to go lay down small sum at the local music store for an Alvarez guitar of my own, but made a mental note that one-of-these-days I was going to own a Martin. Well, yesterday was “the day” for the Martin.

List complete. I’m done.

P.S. ~ Ok, I guess a few more lenses wouldn’t hurt. And hey, adding one M to the pile isn’t being too materialistic, right? But they’re not on my one-of-these-days list! No more list! :eek:
