Leica LTM Show off your Leica I/II/III/LTM Camera

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I bought a 1937 Leica II a few weeks ago. Redid the covering, and found an old Leica case for $10 that fits it like a glove. Quite nice walking around with it.

That's an original case for a Leica II. Most cases have the extra cut-out for the slow speed selector of the Leica III, IIIa and IIIb. Leica II cases are rare!

Congrats on the camera! It looks to be in good shape.

+1 on that, good find! The strap looks new!

My Leica II has a half case, made from an old FED case (the one that is a Leica case copy, not the one with two stud buttons). I removed the top part (the nose stitchings had come undone anyway) and now it looks like a true Leica II half case.

Yours is nicer though...! Happy shooting!

Thank you everyone :) The strap is new- the old one I kept, but it's a bit brittle and far too short.

This is my 1949/50 IIIc. Original sharkskin and blemished chrome. I found this case for $10, too (and redid the strap.) The top snaps off - first time I've seen a case like this. Also the bottom screw was missing, but a local camera shop happened to have one! This and the II in the background are my main cameras.

My 1932 Leica II that I purchased in the Netherlands in approximately 2006 from the daughter of the original purchaser. The camera body and lens both are nickel plated and have serial numbers indicating they are probably original mates.

All good things come from the Netherlands:D, isn't it? beautiful II. Interestingly, contrary to my first II, there's no label inserted in the vulcanite from the Dutch Leica importer at the time, CAPI.
My son is staying in Seattle for a half year internship. If you feel the II should go back to his original home country, let me know.... ;)

Huubl, I hope your son enjoys his stay in Seattle - we just closed out one of the wettest, dreariest years on record!

If you have a photo of the Dutch importer's label, I'd be curious to see it. Are the engraved markings on the lens and camera body the same as your own Dutch II?

Thanks

Leica Standard Type E

Leica Standard Type E

Just received my 1935 Standard type E back from Youxin for a CLA.

I bought the Standard 25 years ago shortly after buying my M6 but never considered using it. The shutter was not accurate and the lens a little fogged. Youxin took care of that and the camera is now ready to shoot.

It was some of the images on this forum shot with prewar cameras that motivated me to get the camera back in working condition. I hope to post some results later.

Thanks.

Hi Jan,

happy to read that the pre-war uncoated Leica lenses thread I started, eventually brought your lovely Standard back to life!

I just went through all 51 pages of this thread to see if I had posted this shot. My Black Nickel 1 (Serial 45440 - 1930) upgraded to a ii that I got to complement my Nickel Elmar (Serial 163818 - 1933).

People just don't seem to be intimidated by what looks like a camera my father might have used.

An amazing photograph of WF Hermans. If not too private a matter, can you tell us how you came to know and take that portrait of the great man? From all I have read of him it looks like a definitive expression of his character. I am ordering a copy of The Darkroom of Damocles.

Hermans is my favorite author and to me the only one that truly mattered since my year of birth, 1971. I own every novel he wrote, have a collection of interviews, his biography, and a photobook and have developed an interest for his inspiration, the novelist Bordewijk too.

Gotta say I'm pretty envious that you met him in person, Erik!

I'd love to own that IIIf, is that a Summicron lens on it? Or the older Summitar?
