They're my youngest and oldest Barnack at this time yes 🙂

The replacement skin on the black II feels a little too thin in my opinion..it gives the camera an different unfamiliar sense of grip I get from my other Barnacks. Meh, If I really don't like it I can always replace it with something a little thicker.

My 1934 II with a 1936 50mm f2 Summar ; I got this and a IIIa with 50mm f3.5 coated Elmar from a Vicar many years ago for £ 200-00 BUT the IIIa was STOLEN in my camera bag in a 'drive-by theft' at Thorpe Park, Surrey ( England) in 1994

I've owned both the 21P and 25P M mount lenses, but this is my first snapshot skopar, I'm looking forward to using it more. The IIIF needs a bean splitter, the RF is very dim.

I wonder if Youxin would sell one of his Japanese beam splitters for the diy'er at home? If not, I'm pretty content with it being a dedicated kit with the VC25, very compact even compared to my X100 and M4-2, I think the 25mm focal length is a perfect compliment to my favourite 35mm.

he put in a new beamsplitter into my IIIc when i went down to his place to get it CLA'd. the new beamsplitter is epic -- just a shame that it's separate RF/VF windows, and the VF is only appropriate for 50mm lenses, as it's got the most pop of all my RF cameras by far.

Sold my W-Nikkor 1.8/35mm the week before Christmas, the replacement Canon 2.0/35mm that I got in the part sale/part trade is at the post office, waiting for me to cough up the import duties... A few more days I hope until I can unpack it...

I've missed having a 35mm LTM lens for the little Leica II and am looking forward to using the 35mm Canon.

G'day folks. New here - well not to RFF but to the Barnack corner. A long story on how I got here but I have finally arrived, and with me a nice (I say with a father's eye) IIIf-rd and very clean (yes even the front glass) collapsible Cron.

Both have come from the masterful hands of Youxin Ye. Great job and a true gentleman. As you can see she is pretty stock standard and I must say I like them without too much make-up…though I'd like to add a little cherry on top - aka an SBOOI.

I have a Leica III which was serviced by Youxin Ye a fine repairman.
I also have a III c and a III f both of which were serviced by John Maddox who did a superb job of putting them in top shape.
Pictured below is the III.

I picked up my first Leica, a IIIa model G, at a swap meet recently. The Summar is typically cloudy, and the top cover has a minor ding and a scattering of bright marks, but in general the camera itself seems to be in fair mechanical condition, with the exception of the slow speeds, which all work like B.

It was covered by a thick layer of tobacco tar and still could use some more cleaning, but after I cleaned the glass the viewfinder and rangefinder are clear and bright.

One thing I noticed immediately about it is the wide-diameter, funnel-shaped collar surrounding the shutter release instead of the cylindrical, knurled collar of most IIIas I've seen. In fact, I've found an online photo of only one other camera with a release collar like this. Is it an option supplied by Leitz, or is it an after-market add-on?

IIRC it's an accessory that was not manufactured by Leitz, but some unknown manufacturer. It sold mainly in the US it seems, since it's far more rare to find on a European camera.
