Agreed on the addictiveness of the S-rangefinders. Got the S2 a few months ago and after spending some time acclimating myself to it, now I use it more than the D800. The glimpse of the 1958 S3 above is delightful, as is that of the little guy who arrived for Nick further up the page.

So yesterday we had a little gathering here in the south side of Jakarta, where quirky friends gathered together and talk about film photography and vinyl records. One friend showed up with an S2, and I got to play around with it a little.
WOW!! Build quality was exquisite, focus wheel is quite easy to adapt to, but the shutter release made me stretch a little. Other than that, I can't get the thing off my head.

Can't really argue with that. But for now I want to concentrate on developing and scanning BW films, then if I'm good enough maybe I'll branch out to Nikon RFs haha..There is only one cure. Buy yourself one![]()

Adapter?
Adapter?
Dear Group,
Is there a way to mount a Nikon F lens on to a Nikon SP rangefinder body? I have a Nikon SP and I would like to mount my Nikon F 85 mm lens. I can't find an adapter anywhere. I would also be interested in modifying the Nikon F lens mount but not sure if that is possible. I know there are 85 mm RF Nikon lenses out there; just trying to save $ if possible. I can easily find a Nikon RF mount to Leica M mount but not a Nikon F to Nikon RF.
Best,
Jimmy

Are you expecting to get focusing via the rangefinder? Or just guess focusing? Because 1) the CV F-S adapter is rarer than hen's teeth (I've been looking for one for over a year), 2) it will be crazy expensive, and 3) it won't give rangefinder focusing.
I suspect you could modify the lens to work with an inordinate amount of work, if you are a machinist, or a large sum of cash if not. Considering beater 85mm f/2 lenses for the S-mount can be found for under $300 I don't see the point of that.

The AR-1 release extension fits perfectly the rangefinders as well as F and F2.

4) Most F-mount lenses don't work with it. All F-mount lens mount on the CV F-S adapter ok, but if the lens protrudes much out the back of the adapter (i.e most wide angle lenses), the adapter/lens combo won't mount on an S-mount camera. That's because the rear of the lens interferes with the built in focus helicoid on the camera.
I sold my CV F-S adapter because only one of my wide angle lenses worked with it (F-mount Heliar 15mm).
What is the AR-1 release extension?
Thank you!

That makes sense, as I imagine the finger won't have to go that far back. The AR-1 release extension fits perfectly the rangefinders as well as F and F2.

Right click on that image as linked, select medium 800 as size, right click on that select copy image address (which I can't demonstrate on your image as you have disabled downloading)
Paste that address in the pop up box that appears (when you are on RFF posting) with the yellow mountain/postcard, discard the double www bit.
I am told this way of linking is against flickr policy somehow but it works for me

Nope - what should be copied is the part of the BBCode phrase which contains the url of the image.
In this case, this :
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5571/15259801042_ba84c7dbda.jpg
So if I copy this in the popup window of the "Insert Image" button, it works perfect :

This is the correct way to post a link to a flickr image, and this isn't against any policy whatsoever...

Yes but  I can never get my browser (safari) to just select that bit of the code I get a whole paragraph which is hard to edit. I suppose when Flickr stop me doing it I will learn to change.
BTW your method appears to circumvent the "downloads disable by the owner" is that correct?

That's really easy to get around anyway, fyi.
