I do hope that the shutter curtains of your S3 2000 won't develop the pinholes they've become quite famous for on this reissue series, and which don't affect the original 1950s silk shutter curtains whatsoever.

Oh I wouldn't be too concerned by that. So far, we've heard of a couple of cases of shutter curtain problems, which of course gets somewhat blown out of proportion to become quite famous as it echos and bounces around the internet 😀
But Nikon made a total of 12,500 reissue Nikon rangefinders (8000 x S3 2000, 2000 x S3 LTD Black, and 2500 x SP LTD) so a couple of cases is a tiny fraction of the total number of cameras. I've seen more reissue Nikon RFs with fungus in the finders due to poor storage conditions.

Why ? Unless your original is a beater with many dings and a dead finder, I see no reason to do so. I've owned a first original S3, then sold it, then bought a 2000, then sold it and got another original eventually, which I still have - actually it's been my main 24/24 camera since I got it three years ago.
The build quality of the 2000 isn't totally on par with the original (I had to go inside all of them to do some minor cleanings of the optical path and could see the differences).
...this is all true.

Beautiful little lens indeed! It was originally designed to collapse for use as a copy lens, there is a special "hood" to adjust the F stops when it is collapsed.

Yes, I'm going to use the lens for street snap shooting. I tried to find Nikon copy stand but also it is expensive and rare. The most important thing is, I'm a practical shooter 😉

Remiss of me not to post a shot, regrettably ubiquitous i-phone, of the new to the stable S2. This on it's first outing with the f2.5 Skopar, a compact combination. Loving the finder so much. better shots will follow, when it rain and I'm forced to table top.

I also have an F2AS, for which an AR-1 has made a great improvement to its' handling. My S2's release has had a less than perfect feel, until now, when I transferred the AR-1.

I'm slowly picking one up for each body, they are either reasonable in price or just plain silly expensive. What has really dried up is the supply of reloadable Nikon cassettes perhaps people have read the writing on the wall?
Kodak though seem to want to price bulk as a premium product for some reason.
The S2 above was a grab and go, it has the AR-1 fitted now.

I have a Nikon S2 with 5cm f1.4 on the way! Can't wait to try out this system. I love my Contax iia, figure this should be a good fit to go with that camera.
