Arrived today - 1938 Automat Type 2. OMG it really is so different from the Rolleicord III... My mind boggles.

Yahoo, it's arrived! Since you're buying new trinkets for it, I assume that everything is working well. Can't wait to see some results in your unique style.
BTW, on the subject of trinkets, may I suggest getting a Rolleifix? If you're not familiar with them, they're a quick-release tripod mount that has two pins that mount into the small holes at the bottom front of the camera. They take the stress off the tripod socket, which is only mounted to the door, and can avoid serious damage if your camera is banged or jostled while mounted on a tripod. There are more than a few Rolleis out there with bent doors because of that. The Rolleifix was the tacit admission that the tripod mount on the door was a design flub.
A used one in good shape can be had for under $50.00, though they often go for much more. Check that the pins are intact, and not worn down or sheared off.

I’m actually waiting for the first roll of film to get back but should see the scans online by the end of the week. Everything sounded and felt so good that I pulled the trigger on purchases. A Rolleifix sounds right up my alley along with the Rolleinar that was suggested for me on the other thread…

Something to do with film transport, I loaded it up and found that somewhere mid roll it wasn't winding on/actuating the shutter. No doubt in need of a CLA. Snag is, I just hope my favourite camera repair shop hasn't gone out of business with the pandemic.[/FONT]

I have a similar model from my grandfather that I need to get serviced. They have a Tessar-type lens. How do you like the images you have gotten from yours?

Very pleased with the results but the lens does tend to flair such as in this pic. I bought one of these Rolleiflex Rolleicord Bay I Bay II Bay III Silver Black Ring UV Lens Filter New | eBay lets me use a modern rubber hood to help reduce lens flair, also by use a STR it let me use the same filters as on my most of my M lenses.

Yes indeed. My fears were unfounded with regard to my local repair people. They survived Covid and said they were busier than ever. Sadly the rent on their premises runs out in December of this year. All is not lost though as the guys who work there are continuing in their home workshops. The Kalloflex is now firing on all cylinders!

Those baby Rolleis, and the other equivalent "baby" TLRs, look like they would be a delight to use. The only problem, and for me one that's insurmountable, is the film availability. I do have the twin of your 3.5a, however!

I really enjoy using the baby Rollei. If you don't mind paying $12 - $20 a roll you can still buy newly made 127 film from Film Photography Project. I'd rather do my own so I buy the bulk 46mm HP5+ that Ilford sells in their annual "odd formats" sale, and re-roll it in recycled backing paper and spools from old Efke 100 rolls of which I had many. For other films, I have a slitter you can pull a roll of 120 through, which gives you a roll of 127 and a roll of Minox sized film.

I saw yesterday (I think on RFF or Photrio) that an Instax Mini sheet fits perfectly in a baby rollei, too!
