Ugh. That's the horrible thing about the M8. They all look the same. They lack character. I'm hoping someone will create a camera leather for it. And it won't void the warranty.

Absolutely right, Swoop. They could come in different colours and coverings.

This viewfinder looks somewhat larger on this picture than it really is. It is a good viewfinder with a water lever with a flouresent coating that glows in the dark. An important tool when shooting with extreme wide angles. I have used it on my Canon 1Ds II too.

Note the sexy sun shade/filter holder thread of the Tri-Elmar. It looks like the fuel line threads of the F104 G Starfighters that once roamed the European skies (and fell down all over the place). The red threads make the sun shade stick to a fixed position when screwed on. Note also that the lense glas sticks out outside the red metal filter holder. You can't let the camera/lense rest on it's nose. A dedicated filter holder is neccessary. This ensures that the filter glas is far ahead of the front lense glas.

It would be far more interesting to show some photographic projects you've executed WITH your M8.

Taking, and SHOWING, photos of your cameras is rock bottom on the content value list. Rock bottom.

Sure. Look up the galleries - both here and elsewhere - and you will find a fast growing volume of M8 pictures.

You are wrong about that 'showing photos of your camera' is 'rock bottom etc.' F.ex. Camera & Coffee is about the longest running and most seen threads in the whole WWW internet photo community. It is indeed interesting to see how the different photographers solve the task.

C'om, show us your M8.

You beat me to it cnguyen! :) Is this the visoflex II? I thought only the III mounted on the M8. Here is my macro set-up: M8+visoflex+bellows+front element of the 90/4. The system is bulky but very a capable macro setup. The detail shot of the 50 cron is to show you how close you can get.

But not to worry most of time my M8 is simply dressed with a 50 cron, and soon with a 50 lux black paint I just purchased :D

GILLES, YOUR STRAP CLIP IS OFF! ITS GOING TO FALL OF LIKE SAILOR TED'S!!

HURRY! FIX IT!!

cnguyen, it is amazing how everything leica has gone up in price since the launch of the M8. A true revival for the used market! I was lucky to get it at a descent price just when everyone on the LUF started to talk about it. Got the visoflex III + bellows and all the adapters from Tamarkin. You may want to give them a call.

Many thanks uscharles! Comssa amnida! The shots are a month old and I spotted the problem when reviewing the pics... I am now really really careful and check the strap clips regularly. You've got a good eye!

Too true. For awhile I was looking for a good condition Canon 1.2. Then the M8 comes along and I noticed the price rise from about $200 to like $400 and up. I don't even bother anymore. Saving pennies for a 50mm Nokton.

The Leica handgrip is quite nice and I don't think it raises the camera. I got a leather case from Luigi with the built-in grip; Good leather, and the grip is very firm. The base is also a bit wider so it balances the camera better. It is a great way to protect the camera, and I like the fact it hides the screen, which I don't really want to see when i shoot.

hey olsen, does the M8 handgrip raise the heigt of the camera? its very tempting :)
No, it does not. The hight of the bottom plate is the same. I find the M8 a bit difficult to pick up and hold without one. - A habit I have after handling a MP with a motor.

I agree that a grip is useful for the M8. I wound up getting the Luigi case for it with the built in grip and I find it more comfortable than the grip that Leica made. The Leica one is a bit too big and round for me.
