so, seeing the xpan images side by side with horizon images ~ how are y'all avoiding the curve that i see on so many pano images?

the perspective seems so much more normal on the xpan posts ~ is that just a result of level horizons, tripod, or is the swing lens on the horizon a factor?

I believe the Horizons are 28mm and Xpans are mostly fitted with a 45mm. Xpans are a remarkable cameras with little distortion although the vignetting is pretty severe with the 30mm. I never even seen a Horizon but I'd say the initial quality of the xpan is much higher.

A Taste Of Eastern Oregon High Desert

A Taste Of Eastern Oregon High Desert

The eastern Oregon High Desert country is filled with the evidence of hard scrabble farmers attempting to eak a living out of hard country. Endless miles of sage and junipers, changing to mountains and pine forests.

This image was stitched in Elements 6.0 from 3 frames shot with a Canon Rebel XTi (digital).

Frankly, I must complain here and say that this forum does no justice to the image. It is much sharper and focused on my monitor on my desk. What's up with the degraded image shown here?

Next... to test forum sizing. This image is from Photobucket. I will also upload from my computer direct to RFF image upload.

Conclusion about Photobucket linking (my last post)

Conclusion about Photobucket linking (my last post)

It appears from my two previous posts that linking to Photobucket produces a poor image on the forum. I did make sure the profile on the most recent post was sRGB.

Furthermore, using the thumbnail linking produced a much clearer image, although smaller.

Lastly, both images linked from Photobucket are much clearer and sharper on my monitor and computer.

Looks like I need to try a couple of host sites other than Photobucket, or stick to simply doing attachments to the posts.

Considering the bandwidth that this thread alone must be using and the deformation of width of each page, I'm almost ready to say image hot-linking should be removed from RFF.

Here are some recent photos taken at my schools football game. Shot with a Horizon 202 on CVS brand 800 film. Notice how the light streaks to the right on the stadium lights from the swinging lens. I always shoot video of the games and make recap videos for the schools youtube account but I really wanted to play with my new pano camera that night. My department makes the universities magazine and I was thrilled to find out that they will be publishing the first photo here. They said its the best photo they have seen of the stadium. They couldn't believe it when I told them I shot it on film.
