First contribution here. From a Mamiya6MF with the a 135 adapter. 50mm/4. Technically my wife took the picture, but i'm in it 😉

Praying priest in the Münster of Freiburg. This was pretty hard to capture since there was so little light. The exposure time was around 1/2 sec, everything what moves (tourists, candles) is blurred, everything which doesn't (wall, priest) is not.
Hasselblad XPan, 4/45mm, Adox Scala 160. Scanned with the Minolta Elite 5400 II and stitched.

I've looked for this, but can't quite tell the answer. Does the Xpan shoot the same size frame as the Mamiya6 with the 135 kit? 24x56 i think...
Also, do metal file carriers exist, or do most people make cardboard or file other carriers down for wet printing?

No, that doesn't seem right - the film gate in the panorama adapter for the Mamiya can't be wider than the 120 format film (6x6, I mean), eh? Possibly 24x56 or something like this. But I may be wrong.

No, the Mamiya 6 MF (the original M6 doesn't support the adapter) would produce a 24 x 56mm negative (1:2.33 ratio)
The Xpan negative is roughly 24 x 65mm (1:2.71 ratio)

You may be thinking about the Mamiya 7. When fitted with the 135 kit, that camera produces exactly the same size negatives as the Xpan.

Ok, this makes sense. Thanks so much. I've always wondered why the 6MF doesn't go a full 60mm wide. The light is being captured.. why mask it out?

Medium format film is about 61mm wide, which means you get about 56mm left after taking away the space needed for the edge markings. So the M6 frame has to be 56mm wide - otherwise it wouldn’t be square. Same with my Rolleicord, Holga, Hasselblad 503 etc.

The vertical dimension has nothing to do with the width of the frame on a Mamiya 6 (or 7), since the film is loaded left-to-right. On a Rolleicord or Hassie the film is loaded bottom-to-top, which then limits the frame width as you say.
