The R2 has certainly stood up to the rigors of Hanoi, although I only used it at night (pushing my XP2 2 stops on it). My poor R2A has had to endure the dust and grime of the streets... man, Hanoi is quite a dustbowl.

I've heard many words used to describe Fotografix but cheap was never one of them. His Bessa side grip was going for $120!!! I was surprised I could get him to talk that day, usually he impersonates a rock.

Me R2 up for grabs on my return tomorrow. Please drop me an email if interested. I can go lower on the price. I also have the CV 28, 35/2.5 and an assortment of other glasses if anyone wants to check out before making a purchase (from someone else, not me!).

Oi Nick (aka Leica mouthpiece), stop your propaganda! I've been on a borrowed M6 for the past 3 weeks and I must say i do appreciate its super nice shutter and tough build. The baselength is pretty good too and makes the focusing that much more precise. But hey, I dunno whether the extra $$ over the R2/A is worth it though... really. Having used the 3 bodies (M6, R2, R2A) side by side for 3 weeks, I can sincerely say the Bessas live up to their fine reputations.

Mr. Wong from Fotografix is a rather quiet man but when you get him to talk, he has quite a wealth of knowledge! Just for the local guys, I am selling my CV Triggerwinder, side grip and vertical grip. Interested party please PM me. I am not using them much these days as I can shoot fast with just the normal advance lever and my hands are not that big to require the grips. The CV vertical grip is really useful when you use the Triggerwinder as it adds to greater comfort in operating the trigger. The whole package would be US 150.00. As for focal length preferences, 35mm and 50mm is always a debate I do not want to indulge in as it is so subjective. Just make sure you stick to the focal length that you are most comfortable with and delivers the best images of your style.

Just like Nick, I use my 35 indoors and my 50 is my general purpose lens. When I go out just to shoot, it will be a 35 and a 90. 90 is a pain to use on a rangefinder, personally I think you must have used such a focal length extensively with a SLR first before you know what you get on the neg.

When I go out with my family, it'll just be a 50. It does everything nicely.

I'm another Leica proponent, and I think if you can find a used M6, you would not lose much if you sell it again. Not that it'll affect the final result in any way, but it does enhance the photo taking experience, at least for me.

agreed agreed. post call MO1 results in really pure mania, or a mixed state, fortunately the symptom (ie spending) is not only diagnostic, but curative. hee.

My hubby would only be too happy to hear me wanting to buy a leica! he really dosent approve of my junk which are subject to being discriminated and not allowed in the dry box with the other elite cameras. but a leica on the other hand...

I think I can't live without a 50. I just like how people look that way - classic portrait stuff. so I could get the R2 from Terence (guess he's still in Hanoi) and the 50 from you 🙂

Have no calls though, in child psych now, so hope Terence is back soon if not the manic state may wear off. 😀

Well, my name's Justin and I'm currently unemployed. I'm looking for jobs in the design industry, and my skills lie mainly in graphic and web design.

Photography is a fun hobby for me that I picked up not too long ago. I shoot with a Minolta CLE these days on black-and-white film. I do my own developing and darkroom work too.

I started with RFs two years ago with a Bessa R, no longer have it. As I said, I now use a CLE, though I have a Bessa R2, which is with a friend on long term loan.

I don't really post my shots in any gallery, though I do have some images on my website.
