Some new photos from Fort Wayne

Another from the abandoned farm on Brindle Road.

brindle-house.jpg

This is the house at the abandoned Brindle Homestead farm on Brindle Road, west of Coverdale Road, in rural southwest Allen County, Indiana. The circular driveway in front of the house is flanked on both sides with barns and storage sheds. The house itself is surrounded by a wrought iron fence. A child's pedal car sits in front of the fence, and a bunch of bicycles are piled up next to the gate.

The Frog Rock was repainted last week. I photographed it at Sunset last night. He sits at the entrance to the limestone quarry he came from decades ago.

porch-bunting.jpg

This is the front porch of the house at the abandoned sheep farm on Pleasant Center Road outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. No one lives there, but whoever owns it is repainting the house and the barns. This patriotic bunting on the porch rail appeared before the recent election, and there were some political signs out by the road.

overturned-outhouse-1.jpg

Someone has overturned the old two-seat outhouse that stood behind the house at the abandoned sheep farm on Pleasant Center Road, east of Bluffton Road, on the southern edge of Allen County, Indiana.

I visited the abandoned farm a few months earlier, and the outhouse's weathered wood exterior had been repainted, as have most of the other buildings on the property. I wonder why it was torn off the foundation like this? It was in very good condition! You can still see the old wooden seats and lids over the two holes! I made this photo Tuesday afternoon.

Monday evening, I found this silo standing in the middle of the remains of a fallen barn behind an abandoned farmhouse on Thiele Road, south of Winters Road, in rural Allen County, Indiana.

There was also an old farm tractor and a camping trailer behind the house, which I also photographed. I'll post those after I finish editing the scans.

edgerton-grain-1.jpg

Here is another one from my huge backlog of film that I'm trying to scan from years past. I shot it in 2008.

A small switching locomotive sits on the railroad siding next to the grain elevator in Edgerton, Indiana. Edgerton is a very small town on the very edge of Indiana. The Ohio state line runs along the town's eastern edge. It is about 10 miles east of Fort Wayne.

pure-sealed-dairy-3.jpg

The Pure Sealed Dairy sits abandoned on Bass Road, just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a door in the big cinderblock building that sits next to the barn. This building looks more industrial than the other buildings, and was probably used for storing and shipping milk since there was a loading dock on the other side of the building. I shot it in November, 2008.

thiele-road-farm-2.jpg

Here is another photo from the abandoned farmhouse I found Monday evening on Thiele Road, a couple miles south of Fort Wayne. This Oliver 1855 farm tractor dates from the early 1970s.

pure-sealed-dairy-4.jpg

This satellite TV dish was surprisingly unscathed from the fire that destroyed this house in front of the abandoned Pure Sealed Dairy on Bass Road, just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. The remains of the house were demolished soon after I made this photograph in December, 2008. I scanned it yesterday.

Here is the main barn at the abandoned Pure Sealed Dairy, outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. The name is spelled out on both sides of the barn's roof.
