Some new photos from Fort Wayne

magley-flag.jpg

I found this huge, faded old American flag hanging over the garage door at a house on US-224 in Magley, Indiana. Magley is a spot on the map a couple miles west of Preble in Adams County. All that is there are a few houses along the highway! The house itself had American flags used as curtains over some of the windows.

I shot it Saturday evening, 4-13-13.

I found this graffiti tag on the back of the Lev's Pawn Shop building on South Clinton Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I photographed it April 9, 2013.

f-rules.jpg

A student in one of my English classes wrote "**** Rules" on the blank Class Rules sign sign that the previous teacher left in my classroom at South Side High. The sign was taken down after I discovered it.

The kid that I believe was responsible for this is the same smartass that keeps turning in assignments signed "Barry McCockiner" (if you don't get the joke, say the name out loud a couple of times!). This was from one of my Honors classes!

The way the kids behave in school today was quite the shock to me!

No wonder kids working at McDonalds can't make change.

Chris,my wife is a high school teacher here in Vancouver,B.C, seems the more you know about their homelife, the more it makes sense, kinda pathetic,no?

Chris, I've looked through most of the pages of this thread and really feel that you have done a great job of documenting your area and capturing the spirit of the towns and region. But you have more than a simple document, the aesthetics of the photos are nice as well. I lived in W. Lafayette IN for a short time.

That is true of many of the kids, but the guy I think was behind this is a middle class kid with good parents. He's just a dickhead. :bang:

adams-cr700w-1.jpg

I shot this one April 13. This abandoned farmhouse sits in the middle of a cornfield on the edge of Adams County, Indiana. It is on County Road 700W, just north of County Road 750N. 700W forms the boundry between Adams and Wells Counties.

frontyard-phonebooth.jpg

This old phone booth stands in the front yard of a house on Baer Road in the Waynedale area of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The life-size doll standing in it is wearing a mechanic's uniform, a leopard-print pimp hat, and Mardi Gras beads! I shot it Sunday afternoon.

front-porch-chair.jpg

This lonely chair sits on the front porch of a farmhouse on Pleasant Center Road in rural southwest Allen County, Indiana. The woman who lived there gave me permission to photograph the house, and when I was setting up my tripod, her children, a boy and a girl, brought me some homemade chocolate chip cookies to eat while I worked!

It had been raining before I made the photograph, and began to do so again as I was working. I shot this last week.
