Some new photos from Fort Wayne

live-laugh-love.jpg

Here is the last of the three photographs that I made Sunday morning on Broadway in Fort Wayne. The porch on this old house was bedecked with numerous wind chimes and signs with uplifting slogans. The little sign under the American flag says "Live, Laugh, Love."

Sadly, much of the U S is beginning to look like the 1940s again.

The economy can no longer support so many freeloaders.

Great job blaming the victims. If employers flat out refuse to pay living wages, that is not the fault of the poor. If business leaders commit economic treason by shipping all of our decent jobs to third world ****holes, that is not the fault of the unemployed.

Drawing from comedian Ron White-----

And don't forget that ..."Texas has a death penalty and we use it!

In fact, there's a bill in the Texas legislature to create a policy for cases where 3 or more witnesses verify a murder. Texas is trying to send those convicted under these circumstances straight to the front of the execution line----no sitting around in prison for decades!

If you kill somebody in Texas---we kill you back".

This will come in very handy for when the three "witnesses" belong to the same "lodge".

Thanks Helen. I hope this doesn't turn into some damned idiot political thread. As to Texas, I have visited the state many times and made a lot of very beautiful photographs there. The people I met in the area I visited each time, the northern Panhandle, were very nice people.

I haven't shot much this summer, the light has been nothing but awful ugly harsh sun, but I did go out several times at night to the Three Rivers Festival, held every July in downtown Fort Wayne. Here's a ride I photographed there.

wells-county-flag.jpg

I made this photograph last Sunday. This American flags hangs on the garage behind an old 19th Century farmhouse on State Road 1 in Wells County, Indiana. It is just north of the town of Ossian, about 8 miles south of the Waynedale area of Fort Wayne. An old school bell stands on a post next to the garage.

I made this photograph in the evening, around 8pm, just before a thunderstorm. The rain began almost as soon as I got back in my car, and came down so hard that I had trouble seeing the road on the drive back to the city.

Time sure flies by! Man he's growing fast. Good photo Chris. I know how you feel. I raised my son from 2 years old. Brought him to NC from Georgia when his mother decided she couldn't raise him. I never asked her for a dime & she never sent anything. We found out 12 years ago she died of a drug overdose.

These two women were absorbed in looking at pictures on a smartphone while children played in the Headwaters Park fountain behind them during the Three Rivers Festival last month.

Last picture from this year's Three Rivers Festival in Fort Wayne. The little girl with the bunny ears, playing the water gun game with her father, was an interesting contradiction. A cute little girl wearing cute fuzzy rabbit ears, looking like she wants to kill something! Even the bunny ears look aggressive, the way they're pointing forward toward the target.

I like your photo Chris, even in the ones with no people in it, like the one with the American flag before the storm we can feel the human presence.

I found this sign with its "Don't text and drive" message on State Road 1 in the small town of Ossian, Indiana. Ossian is about 8 miles south of Fort Wayne.

camo-flag-truck.jpg

I found this hand-painted camouflage pickup truck last Saturday, parked in a gravel parking lot at the corner of Ewing and Superior Streets in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The tattered old American flag flying from the truck is probably the saddest looking flag that I have ever seen.

trees-toned.jpg

An early one from my collection; I shot this is 2003. I have photographed these trees for many years.

I drove past the place where the trees stood on the morning of September 2, 2009, and saw that they were gone! The land was torn up all around them, and machines were digging out the field to create a deep hole. The National Serv-All Landfill is located north of the field that the trees stood in, and the dump is now expanding onto that land as well.
