I found this old Olympia typewriter on the floor of an upstairs bedroom in an abandoned 19th Century farmhouse on County Road 1100N, just east of County Road 100E in Adams County, Indiana. I photographed it in May, 2009.
So jealous of all of these abandoned houses with no crack heads in them...

Our crackheads are all in the inner-city. The abandoned houses I go into are all in rural areas, far, far away from the crackheads.

This ancient TV was in another bedroom in the same farmhouse as the typewriter that I posted a photo of earlier today.

Another from the Hanson Limestone Quarry in Fort Wayne. These piles of crushed limestone aggregate are in a pit near the entrance to the quarry, waiting to be used for concrete and asphalt. The machinery in the background is the Wayne Asphalt plant, located next door to the quarry.

I like this shot a lot Chris. It is like a still from that movie "The Ring" where there were shots/stills in that old farmhouse. Also, the fact that you have retained detail in the window of the outside view is no easy feat!

Forgot to ask - what film and developer did you use with this?

Thanks Jaans. I haven't seen that movie, I'll have to check it out. I shot this photo, and the one of the typewriter in the same house, on Fuji Acros. I developed it in Rodinal 1+50. The developing time is on my website's tech pages. Acros, and the Kodak Tmax films, retain a lot of detail in very overexposed areas, but getting it out into the print or scan is the hard part. I did a lot of work in Photoshop to retain that detail, while allowing the rest of the image to have enough contrast.

Brad and Robert, thanks. Here's a photo of the outside of the house where I found the TV and typewriter.

I like the exterior shot, and especially like the TV photo. Not so much the typewriter, for some reason. That's probably just me. But thanks, as always, for showing them to us.Brad and Robert, thanks. Here's a photo of the outside of the house where I found the TV and typewriter.

This abandoned church is at the corner of Dawkins Road and Main Street in the little town of Edgerton, Indiana. Edgerton is on the state line, at the eastern edge of Allen County. I normally do not like to photograph on sunny days, as the light is very harsh, but I liked the shadow cast by the light over the doors.

I posted another photo of these plants covered in ice after a freezing rain storm a few months ago, and finally got around to scanning another of the photos I made that day.
