Some new photos from Fort Wayne

This is my new favorite thread on the forum! Lots of neat stuff here. Don't know how I've missed it but I don't think I've been in this section of the forum before.

US 30 east of Fort Wayne and into Ohio is full of good photo ops; old small towns and the like.

Do you live in the Fort Wayne area? I have done some work in the area between Ft. Wayne and the Ohio line near US-30, though its been a while.

This is in Besançon, a few miles east of New Haven. I've photographed this schoolhouse many times over the years. The road it sits on splits to go around the front and back of it!
 
Hope you have a book featuring the images in this thread in the pipeline and that things are going well for you, healthwise.

I always check in to see what you're posting.

Bargain House was a store on Main Street (US-33) in the small town of Churubusco, Indiana. The "Going Out Of Business" signs came down a couple weeks after I photographed the building.​

There is now an antique store called Terrapin Antiques in the former Bargain House storefront. The name refers to the legend of the giant turtle that a farmer near Churubusco claimed to have seen in his pond in the early 20th Century. Terrapin is a scientific name for turtles.​

I photographed it back in October, but finally got the film scanned now.

No, I'm in the Chicago area, but I love coming to Indiana for pictures. I shoot a lot of train pictures but the small towns have a charm all their own (and northern Indiana has a LOT of trains!).

Hit me up next time you plan to come down this way to shoot. It would be great to meet another RFFer who loves shooting in the midwest.
 
I'm always excited when I see you've posted something new. I was born in Indiana in 1945, and your pictures remind me of how things were decades ago, and how much they have changed.

This Coca Cola swing stands in front of an old house on Lincoln Highway (US-33) in Goshen, Indiana. I photographed it during a snowstorm yesterday morning.

The Castle of Flags is a store that sells all sorts of flags. They have American flags, flags for all of the states in the United States, flags of foreign countries, religious flags, sports team flags, etc. The store's actual name is Flags International.​

The store is on McKinley Highway in Osceola, a small town between Mishawaka and Elkhart in northern Indiana. I photographed it during a snowstorm yesterday morning.

Freemasons Lodge #97 is a former church on the corner of Oak Street and County Road 300N in the small town of Albion, Indiana.​

Many small-town Freemasons lodges in the midwest are housed in former church buildings.​

Yes, the street sign says Hitler Street. I was surprised to discover that there is such a road in the small town of Kimmell, Indiana. I don't know who it was named for. Perhaps there was someone in the town's history named Hitler who had nothing to do with the notorious German dictator?

This tiny cinderblock building stands on Noe Street, between County Road 650W and Hitler Street, in the small town of Kimmell, Indiana. The building is very small, like a storage shed, and appears to be unused.
