Saint Andrews United Methodist Church Thrift Shop is on the corner of Huntington Street and Carroll Street in the small town of Syracuse, Indiana. The old enameled steel building was originally an auto repair garage.
On the garage door, above the donation box, a sign is posted that says: "Stop. Thieves will be prosecuted."
I photographed it last saturday.

Three American flags hang over the intersection of Main Street and Market Street in the small town of New Paris, Indiana. New Paris is in the southern part of Elkhart County, south of Goshen.
The Landmark Bar and Grille stands on the northeast corner of the intersection.

I photographed this field at dawn, before the sun had appeared above the horizon.

I don't understand. You got up before the sun rose?!? I have never done this in my life, not a single time, and I've lived a few ten thousand days by now!
Did it all the time when I was a teacher. Had to be at work at 7am, and in winter here the sun doesn't rise until after that, plus I had to get up earlier to get ready for work.
I don't like getting up early, but I am willing to suffer for my art occasionally.

The Indiana Air National Guard held an air show at the 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing base at Fort Wayne International Airport on September 10 and 11, 2016.
Paranoia reached new heights at this year's air show. To get into the show, visitors had to drive downtown, where there is nowhere to park without paying, then line up at Headwaters Park to go through security checks inside the big event tent on the east side of the park.
When my son and I got down there, the line stretched from the park all the way down Clinton Street to Superior Street, then it curved east all the way to Lafayette Street! Inside the tent, they had a 'maze' set up to allow more people to line up inside.
The line was about a mile long in total, and it was barely moving. After passing through security, the people were put on busses and driven the 8 miles or so to the airport, which is on the city's southwestern edge.
On the sidewalks leading to Headwaters Park, signs like the one in this photograph were posted. The sign is an incredible list of "Prohibited Items" that borders on the absurd. The prohibited items included:
- Food, Drinks or Coolers
- Backpacks
- Knives
- Large Umbrellas
- Portable awnings or tents
- Bicycles
- Scooters (except for those used by the disabled)
- Skateboards
- E-Cigarettes
- Laser Pointers
- Ladders or step stools
- Heelys
- UAVs or drones
- Loose ice
- Cans
- Glass
- Alcohol
- Pets
- Weapons of any kind
- Dangerous objects
- Cooking equipment
- Roller blades or inline skates
- Ladders
I understand why some of these items were banned from the air show. Weapons, alcohol, and pets, for example.
Others were absurd. Loose ice? Heelys? Heelys are shoes that are popular with children. They have a built-in rollerskate wheel in the heel. Banning those keeps half the 5th graders in Fort Wayne out of the show! Ladders? Those must be especially dangerous, since they were listed TWICE. Seriously, though; how many people try to bring a ladder to an air show??
In the background of this photograph, you can see the sheep lined up outside the entrance to the Headwaters Park tent. The organizers of this event will claim that 'terrorism' was the reason for the paranoid and idiotic security arrangements.
The fact that anyone would think this necessary in a place like Fort Wayne, and that the people here tolerated it and willingly lined up for it, shows that the 'terrorists' have won. Americans were once free men; now we're a bunch of groveling serfs.

This building at the corner of Broadway and Stophlet Street in Fort Wayne is home to an antiques and used clothing store called "Little Shop of Laura's."
This is the north side of the building, facing Stophlet Street. The box of "Free Stuff" on the sidewalk is full of old clothing.

This is the main entrance of the Pepsi distribution center on the corner of Harrison Street and First Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Pepsi warehouse complex occupies a huge block of land in the Wells Street area, just north of Downtown Fort Wayne. This building is on Harrison Street, between First Street and Second Street.
Most of the buildings there are plain, unadorned industrial buildings, but this one's limestone and glass brick facade adds a little beauty to the entrance.

The clouds in the sky above this cornfield were incredible! It is rare to see the sky so completely filled with white fluffy clouds.
The field is on the south side of Pleasant Center Road, between Smith Road and Harber Road, just south of Fort Wayne International Airport in rural Allen County, Indiana.
I photographed them last Sunday afternoon.

The Statue of Liberty holds the yard light in front of a house on the corner of Beiger Street and Lincolnway, facing west on Beiger Street, in Mishawaka, Indiana.
These Lady Liberty lamp posts are made of cast aluminum by a company in Alabama called Tuscumbia Iron Works. They offer a discount if you buy four or more! The idea of one person buying so many of them is strangely amusing to me.
Keep up the great work!

Fort Wayne International Airport's 200 foot tall air traffic control tower looks tiny under a big sky full of fluffy clouds.
I photographed the tower, and the cornfields that surround it, from the north side of Pleasant Center Road, between Smith Road and Harber Road, in rural Allen County, Indiana.
The airport is about a mile south of the city.

Downtown Kimmell Inn is a bar on Clark Street in the small town of Kimmell, Indiana.
The town is so tiny that the idea of it having a "downtown" is funny. Downtown Kimmell Inn is the only bar or restaurant in the whole town. It is next to the old Parker Hybrids building.

When I first laid eyes upon this "Hillary For Prison" sign, I thought that the person who posted it was creative. The barbed wire emphasizes the sign's message that Hillary Clinton belongs in prison.
The woman who lives across the street told me, however, that the barbed wire was actually there to deter thieves. The sign had been stolen several times, so the owner wrapped it in barbed wire! So far, it has worked.
The sign is on Winchester Road in the small town of Poe, Indiana.

Someone posted a video on FB of a person rigging voltage to a Trump sign. When someone runs up & grabs it they got a good jolt. This election is madness.![]()
