SP & S36 Beware

It looked genuine to me at first glance. But the zero feedback threw up the red flags.

Where did the 'seller' get the photos from? Chances are, someone here has seen them before either on a genuine ebay sale or elsewhere?

I copied a jpeg, it had this file name: $(KGrHqEOKpQE7I)Sq07BBS,l-DGtN!~~60_14

The bells were pealing by then 🙄

There are reverse image search engines but I had no joy.

The seller replied promptly to my question and agreed to collection (for cash 😀 ) as I live within an hour of Fleetwood.
The pictures do not reverse search.
I fear that given the variety of accessories with the camera never mind the S36 it will be well out of my range IF (big if) the zero feedback doesn't scare everyone off. The coincidence is unusual to say the least with the previous listing. I just hope it goes high enough so I can sit out with a clear conscience.

It looks like the zero feedback killed it. Let's wait for the feedback.

How much do you think it was worth ?

Even with the zero feedback, there were several bidders who started bidding and drove up the price several days before the end of the auction. I always wonder why you would want to do that.

Well that depends 😀

$20,000 rounded

$7,000 rounded

Take your pick 😀

On its own: SP BP at Westlich current auction estimate Euros 2,500 - 3,000

Previously

Westlicht 14th 2008 Motor only 4,700
Same 20th 2011 Motor only 2,800

Your question is what is it worth, to me or to collectors generally, if they have one - less, if they want one - more? How big is that market?
I would not use an S36, parts difficult, usually heavily worn, really for collectors. I am a shooter so the camera max £2,000, not really after the lenses, no 35mm f1.8 !!
I would have thought if the seller had good feedback and a camera track record it would have gone to £5,000.

If this was genuine, and it may well be so I am not casting accusations at all, I would have talked to Grays of Westminster

Then the auctioneers, I would never have never tried ebay and never not all with a zero feedback account.
As a buyer, given the ebay backup I could have risked £2,000. I didn't bid as I was convinced when it hit that a few days before ending it was going to fly.

That the seller went this route is the puzzle, the market value has not been realised. IMHO
I just wonder what he told/paid the lady he bought it off " I bought the SP Camera from a lady who said that this camera set belonged to her father who put them away for years. "

It is more than likely that the lady he bought it from didn't have a clue about the potential value. It is also probable that the seller didn't realize how far it could have went if he had offered it somewhere outside Ebay.

I would have ventured to place a bid, but the zero feedback did nothing to inspire confidence.
