Starting out in the RF world...

Get a MP, a nice 35mm or 50mm. The MP is a dream camera, I wish I had one. Your GAS for film RF cameras will be over even before it really started, because it will be hard to get a better kit. ( For my streetshooting, I am more than happy with a Bessa and the 35 UC Hexanon and cheapy Jupiter 8, for the moment. ) Add a 21mm or 25mm and 75mm or 90mm later. Beside Leica glass also consider the M-Hexanons and CV lenses (have you seen the Nokton and Skopar in Classifieds ?). But keep at least one of your digital Nikons. Most of your sports stuff is done with a tele as much as I can see. Also I am pretty sure you use AF here. Do not wonder yourself, if you will not get the same results with your new Leica. It is pretty hard to manually focus a tele at fast moving objekts, especially wide open. But for streetwork RF are perfect. The most important are the lenses (and your skills). Just my two cents...

Okay. So I went simple. An EX++ Leica M2, a 21 f4 CV w/ a viewfinder w/28mm&90mm adapter, a MR4 meter, and a 40mm 1.4 CV,

I took the responsible way out I suppose, this way I have a bunch of money saved for the year(ie: to spend on more Leica stuff in the near future)

many have found modifying the cv 40 to bring up the 35 lines to be useful in estimating framing because the 35 lines are closer than the 50 lines to what the 40 captures. as such, ymmv.

...and truthfully it's all kind of scary. I have shot digital for 2-3 years now, and after close to 500,000 exposures I've finally developed the affinity for film, and manual focus, and the "feel" of the image. No doubt my 3 Nikon D200's offer much more sophisticated technology than any of the film Ms, but they are such a huge stop gap between my vision and the click that captures it. So I've pretty much decided to abandon the photography I do for others, and just shoot for me, which means I'm thinking of selling all of my SLR kit in exchange for what could be a hell of a Leica kit. So I shoot street, and thats about it, so 28/35/50 is the range I'll mostly shoot. Im thinking about basing my body purchase/s around the strength of each body in regard to the lenses I'm going to shoot on it. I'd want to say I could afford a pair of MPs with a 28/2, 35lux, 50lux, and that gorgeous 75, but alas I cant. So Im realisitcally looking at about $8,000 to spend. Can you all point me in the right direction? Is the MP worth the extra $$$ over a M6? I've handled various Ms before and I cant say Im particularly fond of any one over any of the others. I was thinkin of maybe a M2, a M6, a 50 cron, and a 35 lux. I dunno, anyone care to point me somewhere? Im literally drowning in all of this Leica glory.

big time Chris..big time...moving over to the Leica you just find the saying to be true, that 'Less is More' who needs all that noisy Digital artifact, and whats the use of all that Autofocus gadgetry.....?
lots of good advice in this thread...find an old user body, or find a left-over MP3..get the new Fast glass, or choose carefully from lots of classic previous versions...i know you'll want more than one lens, but ONE is fun enuff..

A mint Leica M2, a new CV 35mm 2.5 Color Skopar, a VC II meter, and a mint 50mm 1.5 Summarit arrived today. Wow. That's all I'll say.

Do not put it off too much longer! taking a roll out of the camera and developing it in the kitchen yourself!...i'm asssuming you shoot Black and White...buy a 100 foot roll of your fave film...your right at the place where photography gets interesting..go for it😎
