Think, why should only limited number of people have the privilege of having insurance comany pay for their stolen valuables from their car - when the majority of their customers do not experience this? If they offer to pay for these Leicas, Rolexes etc.. for everytime someone steals them out of a car, then the Insurance company will raise their price for everyone to cover the costs of paying out for these theft claims. Then we'll all be paying more so that a small number of people will be taken care of. It's just business man, you gotta think in that regard.
So if you need a heart transplant, your insurance shouldn't pay as that is a relatively rare operation for a limited number of patients that raises the premium for everybody? The principle of insurance is to spread the cost of the individual over a large number of contributors, and yes, the people that organize that make a profit.The basis of the insurance business is still risk calculation and adjusting premiums accordingly. And if he is covered under his policy he should be paid and if he isn't he should not. It is as simple as that.
And I sincerely hope the thief gets caught and the gear returned.
