Streetshooter for Leica M6 M7 M8

seen it...a holster for a loaded weapon 😉.

My take, if it's not in your hand you'll miss the photo-op.

A polite "no thankyou" from me 🙂

Does anyone actually own one? Own up!!! 🙂

It does the same things a proper strap does but only worse:

- Hands free carrying. - the same with a strap
- Holds camera whilst changing lenses - the same with a strap
- Safer than ‘straps' that allow camera to swing. - get a shorter strap
- Ever ready for street shooting without being conspicuous. - quite conspicuous and the curious design will attract more attention than a strap.
- Ideal for typical 'street' lenses. -
the same with a strap
- Freer body movement. (Nothing on shoulder or around neck) - but much more restricted movement when moving in the street: someone can knock it down from your hip or bump into it in the crowd, whereas with a strap you can always protect your camera
- Greater comfort over other carrying methods. - unless you have a jacket on because it's cold or windy.
- Allows more energetic (safe) movement than other carrying methods. - would you run with this thing on? with a strap you can just grab the camera with one hand and run.
- Less conspicuous than neck or shoulder strap - people are used to seeing cameras on straps. this WILL look conspicuous.

This gadget has been developed by an experienced, professional photographer who uses Leica. He is also a member here. (He hasn't posted for a while, but I see he still visits.) There might be more to this than meets the eye.

I am sorry I saw that thing. I will have trouble sleeping tonight. I may have a dream someone will be stealing my camera. What a HORRID creation! an awful idea!!!!

I'm so worried that my kids will see it and think it will make a good birthday present.

Anyone know the return conditions ?

:bang:

Actually, if it works as claimed it may not be all that crazy. Properly clipped to your tightened belt it shouldn't drag your pants down, I've used similarly attached gun holsters and they work just fine, though something with say belt loops gives me more confidence that I'm not going to chase my gun as it slides across the pavement if I run or move fast. And it should allow you more comfortable movement than a camera swinging from a neckstrap. It's probably a comfortable way to carry.

I can walk normally with a camera on a strap around my neck. With this thing, I couldn't walk confortably. What do I do with my arm? Keep it on a sling?

Sorry... it may do for others, but I'd rather keep my Leicas around my neck in their Domke straps. Thanks for posting the gizmo ad anyway! 🙂

Actually, the Y strap (http://www.indianhillimageworks.com/) is a lot cheaper and is much better for a quick grab shot and is very inconspicuous along with the way it slings the Leica at the ready by your side. Very secure too, and I don't have to worry about the camera swinging into something. I have one for each of my M's.😀
