how do you like using the goggled summaron on the M2?
Very much, as my purpose in getting it was to lower the finder magnification so that the 35mm field of view appears in the 50mm framelines. First time ever I've been able to see the M2's whole 35mm view even without glasses... and some of the world around it!

Thanks for your comments. Im probably going to get that same combo in the near future. I was thinking about getting a .58 mag camera, but already have a goggled summaron I use on a M3...

Sounds reasonable... an efficient second use for your Summaron. The .58x viewfinder would offer useful 28mm framelines as well, if that's a factor.

Part of the issue here is that the M2 framelines are larger than, say, M6 frames, farther out toward the edges of the visible viewfinder, more accurately representing what would be included on film at longer focusing distances, but at shorter distances the frames include more than will be recorded on film. This can be distressing, so Leica changed later models to have smaller framelines that better represent what is included at about 1 meter, 2m, or even 0.7m... They've been changing viewfinders in this respect among M8, M8.2, M9 etc. so it's clearly not a universally settled matter!

My Summaron works well on the Leica M(240) also, though the hi-res sensor puts a strain on lens performance. There is a bit of resolution smearing in the extreme corners that is not objectionable in all scenes, and it's not the only lens to suffer this. :)
