I do love the hood. It seems I never have the right hood for the right lens at the right time. But with V5 the hood is always there. Same for my 90 and (very old) 135 Elmarits.
I think on film the rigid (or VC 1.5, or Zeiss 1.5) have a little more character then the V5. But V5 is too good and on digital the only way to go.
If I'm honest about it, the only complaint about v5 was that when I had a filter on (always), the hood retracted would move enough to push the cap off easily! But I agree the hood is very slick and nicely integrated in to the body of the lens. Maybe only surpassed by the design and feel of the new APO hood. I will get another one before too long.
