summicron c 40/2 framelines on RF??

Hi guys,
I've heard that on some m6's the summicron c 40/2 brings up 50mm frame lines on the m6. If this is true, what frame does it bring up on the RF?

There are only three cameras that I am aware of that support the 40 mm frame line.
-Leica CL
-Minolta CL
-Minolta cle

The 40 summicron was normally sold with the Leica CL. Minolta actually made the CL for Leica.

one of the bessa cameras has 40mm frame lines also, can never remember which. and the rollei rf.

many camera 35mm framelines fit a 40 nicely.

Was not aware that they supported the 40...

I tend not to worry about the 50 frame line coming up for this lens. I have used the 40 enough to estimate about how much more for the 40 versus the 50 for framing.

If I am going to only have one lens on the camera, the tendency is to go for 35 or 40 mm... Most of the time I end up with the 40. I like the perspective of the 40 so much, that when I use my Nex-3 I mount a 28 mm lens on it to get as close to 40 as possible (w/ the 1.5 x ratio turns out to be a 42)

No idea, but I wonder why one would mod a Rokkor for M use if s/he also has a CL or CLE. Or to be more general: why modify a lens so it may no longer work correctly on the camera for which it was intended (unless this is a once-and-forever mod to use on M only)?

Instead, why not just flip the M's frame switch to see 35 FOV while composing with the Rokkor mounted?

i´m don't own the m-rokkor or the CLE, i'm just curious! 😉 If i had them i would tejp the frame switch or just learn the 50 frame line.

The only camera in which this modification could be a problem is the CLE but I'm not sure as I don't have the camera.

CLs have permanent 40mm frame lines and the R3x series Bessas (with 40mm framelines) have selector switches.

For what is worth, the 40mm summicron is more like 39mm and in the late M series (M6/7/8/9) cameras 35mm frame lines are practically identical to what you get. On most M4-2/Ps it is slightly less.

For sure the 35mm lines are a lot closer than the 50mm ones.

The Rokkor/CL is a delightfully small kit. I've been shooting mine for the last week.

Before I bought the Rokkor, though, I was using the equally tiny Voigtlander Color Skopar 35 2.5. There are several for sale on RFF now, and it's a superb and inexpensive modern lens. No shimming or grinding needed to bring 35 framelines on M2, 4, 5! And on a CL or CLE you can just treat the entire VF as your frame.

(full disclosure--I sold my Skopar to another Rffer after getting the Rokkor as my tiny 40mm; I have a rather bigger 35 2.8 Biogon for that focal length on M (or on the CL, if I feel like it).
