Hi there,
Well my Super Ikonta IV arrived from Jurgen and seems to be in good condition. I've run several rolls through and have found that it has the dreaded overlapping frames problem.
I found this page http://www.zeisscamera.com/articles_spacing.shtml about the problem, and in the bit at the bottom about solutions it says:
Now, not having a manual for my Super Ikonta IV, I don't know whether it's possible to reset the automatic counter, and if it is, I don't know how to do it.
Does anyone know?

With the Super Ikonta models that allow the automatic counter to be reset in mid roll you can simply wind the camera from frame to frame using the red frame number viewing window while resetting the counter for each frame. When the counter is reset this releases the double exposure prevention and allows an exposure to be made.
Now, not having a manual for my Super Ikonta IV, I don't know whether it's possible to reset the automatic counter, and if it is, I don't know how to do it.

I don't think this is possible with the III & IV. I don't have mine at hand, but I'm fairly certain that closing the back operates the switch that starts the counter. I can't think of any other way to reset it with those models. Mine sometimes has overlap issues and for the last roll I tried winding the arrows an inch (or a bit more) past the start mark. I got perfect spacing, but it wasn't a controlled experiment as I was also trying out a new film type. I'll keep doing that with other films to see if it works every time.

Thanks Wayno. For my sins, Neopan is my favourite film, and it seems to be more problematic than the Ilfords from what I've read. I guess I'll have to switch to HP5. Oh well, I've always like HP5 in ID11 1+1, so I suppose it's not the end of the world. Unfortunately, I don't have any HP5 and am about to go on holiday, so I guess the Ikonta stays at home.

Either wind on a bit past the start arrows, or add a couple of turns or so of backing paper to the takeup spool to increase the spool's diameter.
I wind on a bit extra with my SI III when I'm using Fuji films, and the spacing is fine. If I forget, the early frames touch.

foo was here
the methods mentioned already seem the better choice athough a bit of fiddle to get it right the first time but worth it rather than having to reset the frame counter and having to use the red window for each frame.....if you have auto stop its a good feature to use

Winding past the arrows works for me, also.

It seems to be fine with Ilford HP5. My problem is with Neopan it seems, which is a shame as I use Neopan almost exclusively these days. I'm mulling over whether to keep it or sell it now.
