I think it's great to have to option of shooting a 50 equiv on the X100S. Kudos to Fuji.
Am I the only one here who is truly excited by this? I shoot with 35 and 50mm f2 lenses for about 90% of my 35mm work anyway, so the idea of getting my two most used lenses with an x100s is pretty interesting, even with the minor drawbacks of it's size and the VF issue.
I think many of us use a X100(s) with another Fuji... like I use the X-Pro1 with the 35mm 1.4. It's hard for me to get excited about this lens when I have a better one for a similar camera. However, if you have a X100 and want to keep it simple... the two converters and a Fuji X100 is pretty cool.
I had the 28mm converter for the X100 awhile back. What I didn;t like it how long it took to put on and take off. If it simple pushed on and off easy, it would have been more valuable to me when out and about.

I have the 28mm lens. The only way I'm comfortable using this lens is if I put it on before leaving the house and then leaving it on for the entire day. For that day, I'm going out to look at the world through a 28mm lens. I suspect I'd treat the 50mm lens the same... and the 35. So essentially, I see these converter lenses as a way to 'change things up'... to change the way I look at the world. These lenses can work for me as 'one camera, one lens' kits, but not as carry-along, change lenses on the spur of the moment-type kit.

Just my ignorance, are they really that hard to put on/take off? They are threaded right? I am assuming they come with front/back lens caps?
Whats different between attaching these converters vs. changing a lens on a mirrorless camera in the field?

About the same as threading an LTM lens on a camera. Of course a push-on converter might be easier to use but incompatible with the optical and build quality.
This brings the X100(s) as close as possible to the one-camera-setup!

I'm not sure that a kit comprised of an X100s with 28mm and 50mm teleconverters is that much smaller than an XPro1 with 18mm, 27mm and 35mm lenses. In particular, that 50mm teleconverters look huge.

Noooo, but it's fun!!!!!

Unscrew the lens ring on the X100 as well... it's not a big deal, but if you want to switch back and forth between the two focal lengths quickly, it won't happen. You get sick of it quick.

And, of course, it retains the advantage (if that's how the user sees it) of silent operation.

I wonder how they might fare were they to take a page out of Sigma's book and perhaps do a X135S and an X150S. Not sure how feasible it would be from a manufacturing/business stance as I don't know how much of the components would carry over (seems simple but then having to slightly tweak the body and programming and stuff, etc).
But, as far as I know, one of the reasons the camera can be so small is due to foregoing interchangeable lenses and designing the lens/sensor as a matched pair. I'm sure Fuji could find a few buyers for a model that was exactly the same (maybe slightly larger) but had a 50mm equivalent f1.4 lens and a slightly higher-mag hybrid VF, especially if they could offer discounted bundles or discounts if you're already an owner, etc.

Bring it on Fuji!
Ive never had a urge to own the WLC, but ide sure save for a TLC!
Even if its only usable with the EVF (not a big deal if you manual focus anyways) + you could always get one of those nifty VC 50mm viewfinders if your feeling snappy.
In my opinion, that looks like a gorgeously large hunk of glass! But I would prefer a 58/62mm filter thread over 67mm, I would have to buy into a few new filters!

That would be interesting. I would love to have a 35f1.4 (x135s).

Sounds a lot like what Yashica did with the Electro35 series cameras with a wide & tele converter. Both are fairly large so that goes along with the Fuji converters. I have not used the converters much on my Electro35 GS mainly because you have to use a separate viewfinder to get the composition. First you focus with the rangefinder VF and then correct the distance using a set of markings on the converter. At least this sounds like you could use the EVF and get focusing and composition down much quicker than my Yashica.

But it does have a leaf shutter.

I saw someone guesstimate and illustrate the size of this new converter in the X100's viewfinder window, and, since the 50mm frame lines will be tighter, it looks like it still may be useable. It looks to be kinda like mounting a Noctilux on an M camera, as far as creeping into the viewfinder is concerned, but we'll see.

Block OVF? Flash?
Block OVF? Flash?
Probably not the VF, but it looks like it will block some of the on board flash.
Probably not an issue for most on RFF, but still....
Fuji does make a nice little $100 flash which would not do so but that's just one more thing to attach to the body.

The converter is interesting, but I'm unlikely to get one - one of the main reasons I ordered my X100s was simplicity of kit.
Now, if Fuji were to release different versions of the camera with other focal lengths I'd be there thisquick. Fat chance of that happening, especially a 75/2 equivalent.
