When using an adapted manual focus lens on a m4/3 camera, you set the aperture on the lens and not the camera. There is no electronic link from the camera to the lens. This means you can only use the camera in either aperture priority or manual mode. The camera doesn't "know" what exact aperture you set, but the meter "knows" how much light is passing through and can adjust the proper shutter speed.
