My GSN had a rather sickly POD  which I finally got around to replacing tonight.

Now I'll have to go out and shoot a roll with it...

congratulation,
it's a fun to open the electros.
Did you remove the pad in a small oparation with only opening the topplate,
or did you dismantel the lens?

I removed the lens unit to gain access. The pad was so bad I had to clean it off where it is glued and where it makes contact.

Even before replacement the camera was working as it should..

how is it with the removing of the leather?
is that easy or doeas that destroy the leather?
I've never done this but at one electro I have to do this.

Removing the covering

Removing the covering

Sometimes warming the 'leather' makes it more pliable and thus easier to remove without the likelihood of tearing.
I use a gas soldering iron with a hot air only attachment (a tube thing) and carefully warm up the covering. It seems to soften the glue too. Care is needed but I didn't need to say that... :)
