The Forever Question ... What camera to bring on a trip?

Wow, the panorama looks great to me! It's a bit disturbing when smartphone cameras are equal to the small sensor compacts we had some years ago, and better.

Thanks!

Disturbing? No, not to me. Smartphones are just where all the development money is going so there have inevitably been huge improvements over the past decade. There are still significant limitations to the use of smartphone as cameras that a photographer must work around to get the best results, but for a lot of casual and even some not so casual shooting, they do very well.

I'm not selling my Leicas, Hasselblad, or other cameras any time soon... film or digital! :)

The trick really is that they're good enough for a lot of things that you can dismiss thinking about the limitations of the equipment so much and work more at seeing photographs.

I'm pleased with how this set of photos of an Auburn Boattailed Speedster that was on display on the ship's promenade deck came out:

I shot those photos over the course of four days, processed, and uploaded them from the ship ... all on the iPhone 8. They're making some nice prints today...!
