Tom,
the lever can easily be changed without taking the top plate off so the seal will remain intact.
It just requires the correct ring tool to grip the chrome release ring. DAG or YY can do it for you in <5 mins and in the same run can change the release ring to a black paint one too.
Johan,
Ohh yeah, that film advance lever and shutter button dish can be changed out without opening the camera, but that "Black Out" film counter can't be swapped out, you have to break the camera open to do that......
Tom
PS: I just noticed there's no seal like in the older Leica M's, so I can take off the top plate and swap out that film counter after all.......well that will be the next thing I plan on those (3) items getting swapped out, then the camera will be full on STEALTH with just the lens release button and the lug straps silver chrome, I think I can live with that LOL!!!!!

I think here's the next step in finishing my ultimate Film Leica with some "vanities" (I'm still debating if I will add these?)
The MP/M3 Style BP Advance, BP Shutter Button Dish and the "Black Out" Film Counter Dial
I'm really diggin that larger Film Speed Dial that the TTL camera's have, I think that the TTL camera is a nice improvement over the Leica M6 Classic, I never thought I'd say that, but I really like this camera, even better than my old trusty 1986 M6 Classic.........
I have noticed the flaring issue with the 0.85 finder already, maybe I will go with the updated modernized - with MP Anti-Flare Optics?
I'm going to work the camera for a while with the M4 style Film Advance I might just leave it on the camera??? ~ I'm still thinking keeping that BP M4 look intact perhaps?
Decisions Decisions

Tom, many, if not most of us, hook the thumb inside the film advance lever, using it as a sort of "rear grip." With the advance lever missing on the M8/M9, some find that the camera feels incomplete. The "thumbs up" serves as an artificial thumb-hook for those who can't make the adjustment. Moi, I just rest my thumb against the rear of the camera, and I'm good to go. I suspect a thumbs-up on a film M would be in the way of the advance lever.

Ahhh I see.........hummm, I'm trying to REMEMBER how I held the M8, but mine has been out for repairs to Leica for almost 2 MONTHS NOW!!!!!!!!
So I can't remember what I do with my thumb, but I'm sure I'll remember when it comes back LOL!!!!!!

Nice one, Tom.
A question: Can the M6ttl take IXMOOs or can the M6ttl be modified to take IXMOOs?
I really hate the fact, that this is impossible with the MP...

Yes thanks so much Robert, the Mag finder is better I think, quite a nice update from the 0.72 Classic
"Black Out" film counter.....
I do have a feeling that the camera is a tad bit louder sounding when used (shutter) but this could be just the feeling I have that's been a long time since I'be used a M6 (over 8 months +).

HU: Leica M6 LHSA TTL 0.85 Black Paint on Evilbay....
HU: Leica M6 LHSA TTL 0.85 Black Paint on Evilbay....
Here's a heads up for anyone who might want to cash in on one of these beautiful cameras.....
http://cgi.ebay.com/Leica-M6-TTL-0-8...item4aad09fddd
I have no connection to the seller, the starting price is just about right, cheaper than working out a New à la carte Leica MP and the quality and finish is really amazing.

I always get a kick outta seeing this Leica.........Just Thinking if I can put my camera though this much work?
Rock N' Roll Photography legend Jim Marshall's Leica M4 w/ Leicavit MP.
And that reminds me of the age old question - "How Many Licks Does It Take To Get To The Middle Of A Tootsie Roll Pop?"
But put into Leica terms - "How Many Rolls Of Film Does It Take Till You Have This Kind Of Patina?"
LOL!!!!!!!

I think M6 TTL LHSA is all rounded looks alright, in balance between beauty and day to day usage
(comparatively, I don't like Millenium, for the red logo, and M3 style rewind)
I got my M6 TTL LHSA 0.72 around early 2009 in mint condition with all packing, I see the price norm is going up about 25% now.
btw, recently I step into a bit more vintage black paint - M4
![]()
Ooooooo! That's pretty
Yeah, I'm slowly thinking I might pass on doing the Mods I suggested before, while I like that BP M4 look so much.......though I do like that "Black Out" film counter, it's a pain in the butt to have to take the whole top plate off the camera just to switch/swap out a $38 part :/

Do you have anymore Leica's yourself? I know you sold quite a few there....I'm still hanging on to my (3) Grey IIIC K's - but I did get rid of my Sharkskin IIIC K Chrome and my Black MOOLY C to invest into this LHSA BP, it was really worth it, I will have this camera for many years to come.......the first brassing/patina still hasn't happened yet, matter of fact the camera's STILL virgin, with no rolls of film done yet, I hope I will change that in the next few days!

Ohh BTW.....I just figured out that the Leica ER case #14505 DOESN'T work on a Leica M6 TTL!!!!
I just bought one on the evilbay last week and now I have to return it
ugghhh!!!!!
I was just told that the #14870 ER case is the correct one to fit the TTL bodies, I hope that's right this time, I want a factory case not an aftermarket one.......now I have to find one?

Man!, just can't get over how good that camera looks...gonna make those grey ones jealous.
