Three cheers for Youxin Ye.
I sent my Leica IIc to him on Friday for a shutter repair and its back home tonight- 5 days later.
He also replaced the rangefinder mirror so now looking through it is like 1949 all over again.
Once again, he is the man!

I'll enthusiastically second that. I recently sent Youxin my "new" Leica II. Youxin worked on it the night he received it. It came back smooth as silk, with a new rangefinder prism which makes it a joy to use, and "smelling" like new. If only he'd accept to to the same to my CL whose rangefinder patch now looks quite weak in comparison!

I have used his services, and he is great to deal with.
Does anyone know if he also works on lenses?

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that.
He has worked on two LTM bodies and several non-metered M bodies for me and everything has always been fine.
He also will do a CLA on lenses.
He doesn't work on metered M bodies such as the CL, M5,m6 etc.

I also have nothing but great things to say about Youxin. He fixed & CLA'd my M3 for a very reasonable price and also helped me out with another repair I needed. All around a very nice guy, too.
I know that he doesn't work on most lenses, only a few older ones. He always recommends DAG or Sherry to do lens work. He is very easily accessible via email–I always get a quick response–so you can ask him about which lenses he does work on.

Watch that step!
I have a rare Leica IIFBD (less than 10,000 built 1951/52) and it needs new curtains and a beam splitter via CLA, so it should go to him sometime soon, I`ve had the camera for almost a whole year now and I already talked to him about it, just have`nt gotten it off to him yet.........

Did he correct the problem? Is there a follow up to this comment? How was that handled?

He finally made good but tried to charge me for new curtains even though he screwed them up.
The slow speeds went out 3 months later.
I sent the camera to Sherry and it is now working fine. She made note of the excess amount of oil still remaining at the time..

Another thumbs-up for Mr. Ye, who recently performed a CLA and replaced a curtain on my M2. Very quick turnaround and great prices. I think I appreciated the communication most of all.
When the curtain went (I had just purchased the camera from the 'bay, and it jammed while loading my second roll of film through it), I wasn't sure *what* happened, so I contacted my local shop-- who suggested that the entire camera was shot and would need to be rebuilt...yikes.
I emailed Mr. Ye, who had a much calmer and logical approach. He explained what the trouble was, and the most reasonable way to fix it. He performed the work and I had the camera back in my paws shortly. I mailed the camera Monday and had it back Saturday.
Sorry for the long-winded answer, but yep... that guy rocks.

When DAG was back-logged - I sent Youxin a IIIg that I later sold to LeoB. It arrived back on my door step before I had a chance to pay him. I was very please with his work.

I sent him a iiif with a Summitar lens. He replaced the shutter curtains, CLA'd the camera and lens (the lens had a lot of haze and the aperture ring wouls tighten up making it very hard to turn). I had the camera back in a week working like new. I guess like most people, he can have an occasional bad day.
