Tips for scanning C-41 negative film on the V500 Epson

I haven't started a thread or post or whatever it is called for many years. But I have used this with my V500 Epson scanner and I am happy this guy took the time to post it. As of now I don't have any additions, other than post processing stuff.
My avatar on Pentax Forums is with a Pentax, and my avatar on Rangefinder Forums is with a rangefinder 🙂

This is one that I could not get right so I tried your V500 method. If you could see this place at 8:00 am you would say this is perfect. Not a very interesting picture, but Kodak Gold 100 (35mm):

Nice initial break through from OP, about film!
I went to the link and realized what one of my most respected RFF member is the author.
As twice nice as it could be 🙂

I also have V500 and wasn't happy with initial color scans for months.
But last few scans I switched to 48-bit and as Colton described nothing but ICE.

Ektar 120.

Kodak Gold 200.

My biggest concern was the micro-dotted color noise and with this method it isn't as bad as it was.

Konstantin, your Ektar scans look ever so slightly red, but other than that they look good.

Thanks to Colton and John. Since my local Costco stopped scanning film, I've been doing my own C-41 color scans on my V500 and haven't been that happy with the results. Colton's tips are therefore very timely. I will try them.

I still need to read your thread but let me ask something: does it have to do with having a V500 connected to an iMac? That's my setup... and sadly I found out that the ICE technology doesn't seem to work with my computer.

Thanks for taking the time! The V500 seems to be treated like the poor relative now that there's a V700 out there! 🙂
