Lux, cron, & gon kit. Has a nice ring to it.
Id put the lux on the 9 and the cron on the 8. Carry the gon (this one more different than the others requiring different frame of mind too imo)...and work on some phone shots.
I was thinking today of exactly this set-up. Keep the Gon for special settings.

EP2 & the fast 85 adds a nice tele option, maybe for back at the hotel...

Yes, I will keep it simple.

I used to think I would "miss" photos if I didn't have a complete range of focal lengths. Now, I realize that I don't miss any subjects with a smaller selection of focal lengths, the images just have different perspective and composition. I used to travel with only a Leica M6 and 35 and 50mm Summicron lenses. These days it's an M240 with the same lenses in a very small canvas satchel. I couldn't be happier.

I like to keep it simple. My travel kit for most of the past ten years has been either a Nikon D40 or D7000 body and a 35mm f/1.8 AF-S DX lens.
During my travels, I have often wanted a wider lens, occasionally wanted a longer lens, but never wanted more bulk or weight.
If my wife and daughter didn't demand instantaneous images, I would be perfectly happy to bring my Nikon FE and 50mm f/1.4 AI-S lens instead. My wife's iPhone X is good enough that I may be able to shift the digital burden onto her and shoot film in my real camera on our next trip.

Yeah, I keep it pretty simple. I take my M3 and a 35/50 combo and my Yashica T4, somtimes my Rollei. If I was living in Fantasy Land, I'd have my M3 and a 35/50 combo and a Widelux and leave the other two at home.

Just back from Shanghai. The old GR1v handled it all...

3.0-inch Intelligent LCD; Record HD videos in AVCHD Lite; Creative Movie mode

FWIW, the LX5 zooms from the equivalent of 24 to 90mm and you can zoom smoothly or in steps like 24, 28, 35, 50, 75 and 90mm which I find very useful.

If you get up to the Four Corners area, I'll buy you some green chile enchiladas. I live in Waterflow, NM, halfway between Farmington and Shiprock. Just let me know!
I've come to the conclusion that the vast majority of the photos I like to shoot on vacation trips to cities can be taken with just 50 and 35 lenses (or their equivalents). On hiking trips I may take a 28 instead of a 35, but when I visit European cities a lot of my photography is street, for which I use a 35 or a 50.
I've got two vacation trips planned this summer, and am planning to take somewhat different kits on each:
NM (Santa Fe, Abiquieu, Taos): M3 with Zeiss ZM Planar 50; IIIc with Summaron 35/3.5; Olympus Pen F with 17/1.8 and 45/1.8 lenses.
Paris, Loire, Brittany: IIIc with Nikkor-HC 50/2.0 and Summaron 35/3.5; Rolleicord Vb; Olympus Pen F with 17/1.8 and 45/1.8.
In the past, I've often taken along an Olympus XA as a second and pocketable film body, but I'm leaving it at home this summer in order to simplify travel kits.

Green Chili is very HOT! I once stopped at Hatch, NM. Best tasting Mexican dish for me (ever).

Local Mexican restaurants confirmed to me that they get their chili peppers from Hatch!

OK, I have packed my camera bag. The deed is done. Thanks for all the input in this thread. I kept things simple. One small camera bag with two compartments. It felt right to just slip in the M9 & Lux 35/1.4 plus M8 & Rigid Summicron 50/2, with a "back-up lens", the Zeiss Hologon 16/8. A compact package with a high level of practicality.
The possible views: 16-35-50 on the M9 and 21-46-66 on the M8.

Thank you, Jim. It is each year a very special time of the year for us.
I got also a paper accepted for publication today. Clusters of Alzheimer's Disease in the USA. Made me happy. Research and photography, both make me happy.

Thanks! Still working on the itinerary but I'll let you know if we get up your way. I was in southern NM in early April and had a fantastic green chile cheeseburger in Hatch.

Thank you, Steve.
I just removed the Summicron from the bag. This makes it easier. 35 Lux on the M8 and the Hologon on the M9.
