Never being one to listen, I did Rodinal 1+100 at 20°C (68°F) for an hour.

Agitating using the spinner at the start, and after 45 minutes a thwirl every five minutes.

I never expected it to be this good....

?? 45 minutes or 45 seconds?

Those did come out really nicely.

venchka : I probably will. I wanted large grain and this is not nearly as big as I expected.

Rogue : I meant : agitate, stand for 45 minutes, then agitate once every five minutes (thus three times) before the end

Actually I'll be making pictures in dark bars in a week or two, without flash. So I'm trying to figure out how far I can go... (this is a slr, I don't have a rangefinder left since my Oly exploded)

Wow, that's inspiring. And how much Rodinal did you use at 1:100? I assume 5ml to 500ml of water for one roll. -Laura

6 to 600 Laura.

I was afraid that 300+3 woould be too little, seen how a minimum of 5 or even 10 is sometimes mentioned

amazing results - I have two rolls of TriX shot at 1600 here and was going to develop them in D76 (a first time for me too), but your results make me wonder. Any tipps on what would be the correct dev time and procedure for 1600 in Rodinal? cheers, jan

Great work Pepe, you have inspired me to try and have a go myself. I`ll try it with HP5 and Rodinal.

like I said : Pour in developer, turn the spinner (my tank leaks if I invert) really fast for about fifteen seconds or so. leave to stand for 45 minutes. Turn spinner fast once in each direction, leave for 5, repeat twice so that at 60 minutes you can pour out and wash twice with water before a four minute fix (i havent marked my bottle with the number o films done, I just always fix for 4 minutes and make new after three months. (I also use it for printing)

(the plan was to agitate half-way and let it rest for the remainder, but the commercial break in Battlestar galactica came later then I guessed.....)

Beautiful results, I never cease to be surprised at what Rodinal can do. I might've been tempted to just let the thing stand for two hours, but I might try your method instead.

BTW, it's nice to know I'm not the only person who times his development by Battlestar Galactica ad breaks :)

Thanks for sharing this. I got similar results to yours from 1600 iso-rated Tri-X using 2-hour stand development in Rodinal 1+100 at 68F. Initial agitation with the twirling stick for 30 sec, then no agitation whatsoever. Haven't tried to cut down the development time, but going by your results it looks like 1-1.5 hours should be enough for 1600 iso, and 2-hour should be okay for an extra stop of pushing (i.e. iso 3200 rating).

Cheers

Vincent
