After changing lenses during a fringe festival shoot, I'm getting the dreaded "turn off camera and on again" message whenever I attach my 35 1.4 lens. I've tried resetting the camera with the 18mm lens attached but no change. Ideas?

I would re-install the latest firmware for both the camera and the lens.

I thought of that but the lens has to be on the camera to update the lens software. I can't get at any menu to do it with the 35mm on the camera. All controls are non-functioning with that darned message on the screen. Grrrrr

Keep the battery out overnight and see if things reset themselves?

I figured it out and feel like a total idiot. I've resorted to using those damned lens cap tethers because I kept losing the crappy lens caps Fuji is using. The elastic had slipped down in the crevice between the lens hood and the lens preventing the lens from focusing. I'm ready to order Leica hoods and the lens covers.

Better to feel a little foolish than have a broken camera!

One more problem solved. Very good. I started getting negative thoughts about the new breed of digital cameras.

It happens. The X100 works the same way. People jury rig filter/hood attachments for the X100 and sometimes there is not enough clearance for the lens to move.
