...and they are Neopan 400 35mm and 400X Fujichrome (both 35mm and 120). The camera store I work at got the word from Fuji's order desk late last week.

Region dependent maybe? Which country are you in?

I contacted Fujifilm in Japan in Japanese a few months ago specifically asking about Neopan 400 135, and they replied that there are no plans to discontinue it.

When you consider that the recent changes to the packaging designs of Fujifilm's film products (announced on February 21st, 2013 here) didn't include either Neopan 400 or Provia 400X, Fujifilm's reply doesn't fill me with confidence though...

Sorry, it seems you may have forgotten to attach a copy of their notification to your post.
After previous debacles surrounding the "demise" of certain films (which in some instances was subsequently found to be incorrect) perhaps you will appreciate that unsubstantiated posts such as yours above, are unlikely to be well received.

Having kicked this ball off, I will leave it in your capable hands to come up with a more substantive reference with more details about this development for us. Thanks in advance for that.
Cheers,
Brett

Well I just checked the Fuji USA website and there is information on both Neopan 400 and Neopan 100 Acros. No mention they are discontinued. Perhaps the USA supply chain to stores is out of stock at this time.

If it's true it's sad ... if it's not it's just another 'The Sky is Falling' RFF thread!

No real harm done. 😀

A nameless order desk anywhere in the world is a somewhat poor reference. Fuji's regional branch offices seem to be entitled to de-list products still made and distributed elsewhere - accordingly they have grown a certain notoriety as a source of wrong discontinuation notices, and their US office seems to be among the worst offenders.

After initially reading TCS' post some weeks ago, I quickly stocked up on Neopan 400. Now I still have over 100 rolls. Still, I think even if that were to go, there are plenty of b&w alternatives for me.

But if Provia400X goes, then I will be really upset as that is absolutely my all-time fave. Luckily I got a pretty good bonus last month, so I'll sink a wee fortune on some Provia! I'll be Yodobashi tonight to grab a few boxes!

400X?! I hope not! Some wag has popped it on Wikipedia's list of discontinued films already...but nothing I can find from Fuji.

I hope this isnt true as well. On a side note, I was told last week, by a reputable camera shop employee that TMax 400 120 was discontinued. I told her there was no way, but she was pretty adamant about her statement. After about 5 minutes of back and forth about how it hasnt or wasnt happening, I just gave up. I havent read anything, so I'm guessing I was right....at least I hope...

You doubters are welcome to believe as you like, but when a manufacturer tells a merchant that a product is going to be discontinued, guess what? It is. How many words are there in Roget's for "Duh"? Fuji played the same game when they discontinued Neopan 400 120 and their 4x5 instant films a few years ago. I would suggest stocking up if you're using these films. Otherwise, don't blame the messenger.
