I'm off to Germany Black Forest in a couple of weeks for a few days. Obviously must take the M6 but I will ration myself to 2 lenses. Choice of 21, 25, 35mm, (all CV) 50mm (Summicron) 75mm (CV) 90mm (Leica)

nowadays, for me, it would be the 25 and 50.
or for a really good time just a 35!

Rationing lenses may be false economy. How much space/weight do they take up, after all? I can understand limiting to 1 lens, but if you're going to be changing lenses anyway...
21, 35, 50, 90
shortest, longest, and 2 in between

I assume that your 21 is the 21/4 so it does not take up much room. Two lenses sounds good, but I always travel with a 21 as a "back up" for shots that the other lenses cant do. For the rest, a 35 is essential and then for the long stuff, the 50 or the 75. Small, package and you can hike through the Black Forest to your hearts content and drink beer at all the Bierstuben without being overloaded.Have a great time!

i think there is more to it...
gone for only a few days - why pack the kitchen sink?
travelling alone? keeping the weight down and the number of bags to carry makes a difference to me as to how much i enjoy the trip.
i carry one small bag with clothes etc and a camera bag and i never check baggage.
is the trip primarily about photographing or business or visiting friends?
makes a difference as to what i will carry.
will photography be a 'when i have extra time' sort of thing?
sometimes one camea with lens makes for a way more enjoyable time.
unless you have a complete wide angle r4 plus small cv lens kit...then it all fits in a domke f6 along with a ton of film, a grd and a book...

this thread is like an endless loop, we seem to get it all the time and we all seem to enjoy answering it all the time as well.
and i never seem to actually follow my own advice, so my ancillary question would be...who here actually follows their own advice in these threads??
