I have more than that. More than twenty-five 50mm lenses, just counting LTM.

Yeah Brian you need to sell me one of your "wartime" CZJ f1.5 50 Sonnar T`s to me
I thought I finally had a real lead onto one that had some unique WW2 history, but I never did hear back from the seller.....

I am way behind Brian in 50mm RF lenses. What a relief!
One less 50 for me!

... The children of these collectors will be selling the lenses after the photographers can no longer see and sell the lenses for a lot less.

I'd have that many too if I only paid $4 each for them - I have to pay retail!

I was bidding on that 50 1.5. Shouldn't have quit so soon. Looks like one of you got a good deal.
Having parted with all my old glass (Summicron DR 50, Chron 35 and Tele-Elmarit 90) and two M film (M4 and M6) bodies last month to fund a new M8 and Elmarit 2.8 28, I thought I'd reload by grabbing a Canon 50. You sharpies are too quick for me. Leave a little out there for a hungry guy.
Was $50-ish too much to pay for clean Jupiter-8 (in the US)?

PS, the Jupiter had an M adapter included.

Too many 50`s....I can NEVER have too many 50`s!
Tom
PS: But I do SELECT the best ones and sell off the lenses that I don`t often use, so I`m down to using my favorites too

Just got a second roll from the 1937 uncoated CZJ 5cm F1.5 Sonnar converted to LTM. I used a 1956 J-3 mount, after rebuilding it. Wow. The uncoated lenses use a much heavier brass optics fixture than the alloy that the "T" lenses moved to. So the converted lens has a heft to it, like the Canon 50/1.5.

OK i would like to know who (if anyone here) got the wartime" CZJ f1.5 50 Sonnar T` from Antiquesworld in Bulgaria.
(Was that You TOM ?)
Did anyone see that go for $150 ?
i was hoping no one would bid
i had a deal with them.
Speaking of Sonnars, this one is in the mail. Has anyone seen one of these before ? I am not sure what the adapter on the back is for (LTM-M39 close up?). i do not have it yet so i am anxious to find out whats up with this little conversion.

That looks like it has been converted using a Canon 50/1.8 focus mount. I recently bought two Canon 50mm lenses with that idea in mind. The 50/1.8 and 502.8 mounts look like good candidates. The optics on the lenses are badly etched, and they were cheap. I also picked up a Nikkor 5cm F2 and Summitar with bad glass.
I did not bid on the 5cm f1.5 that you saw, but "watched" it. I prefer the conversions using the J-3 mount.

I'm sure about the shimming, and prefer the J-3focus mount over what looked like an Elmar or an I10 mount.

Yes, the scale looks like a Canon...

Okay- unless they re-engraved a DOF scale, it's NOT a Canon!
I'm not going to worry about the DOF scale on my conversion.
I use a Zeiss Opton 50mm F2 on a Nikon, shimmed for it. Also have a really nice post-war CZJ 5cm f2 "T" Sonnar. The postwar lenshas larger diameter optics, compared with the pre-war lens. AND there is the CZO 50mm F1.5 conversion. It is taunting me...Dremel.

Hmm...what is it then?
Okay- talk. Where did this lens come from and WHO made it... What parts were used... Talk... Were any Topcon or Zunow lenses harmed in the making of this lens...

Tanar had a similar 50/f2 lens to that.

良かったね!
This second-place bidder is sad, but knowing I was beat, I'd rather give it up and get the market down. ;-)

Tanar- That was the other 50/2 that is fairly rare. If it had "bad glass" better to use it for something. The Canon 50/2.8 is fairly uncommon, but the one I came across is in bad shape- surface behind the aperture is ruined. Same with the Nikkor. Rear module is etched by fungus. I'm thinking of turning them into Zeiss lenses.

Brian , First off thanks for that link, i have about 10 or so
Contax CZ 1.5 and 2.0 lens that i have been collecting and waiting to be put into use. I would like to send a couple "somewhere" for the conversion.
The pictured Sonnar is in the mail to me so i can not say what it is yet. The seller "owned" a chain of Photography shops around the US blah blah fish eggs and so far has no recollection of the lens.
i am plucking some of his oddball lenses from him and will continue to brow beat him until his memory is adjusted.
OH, how i wish i knew.
i do know that it has some separation on the edge though (darn) , so i may send it "somewhere" for repair unless a test roll looks fine, then i may wait awhile.
