How about creating a hype for another lens so that some people can go ahead and buy a Canon 50/1.5 for a lower price?

About time these lenses get the money the`re worth, I wish I`d held onto that IIF2 <EP> with matching <EP> f1.5/50 lens, instead of getting $1,000 for the combo, it would be worth $1,600+ now 😉
Wow! Next time Kevin has one of these he`ll be asking $1,000 for it.....better hurry up now and buy any if he`s got them listed under $600!!!!!😱
Well, I`m quite surprised that no one`s "hyped" up the Canon f1.2/50 enough, it just beats the f0.95 all up and shoots photos just as good looking as that "overrated" Noctilux. ~ I guess I better SPLASH a bunch of pinup`s on here taken with the f1.2 and see if I can hype it up to f0.95 prices! LOL!!!!! 🙂
The Canon f1.2/ and f1.5 lenses are two lenses I`m always using now....all the other great performers like the *1930`s Hektor 73 and the Prewar/Wartime* Leitz Xenon and CZJ Sonnar T are TOO RARE lenses to compare with the Nikkor SC f1.4 and Canon f1.5 50`s, pricewise, but any of these FAST LENSES are getting HARD to find minty anymore, so the better the glass the higher the price!
Now`s the time to buy, not in two or three years.......

Well, that lens has been "hyped" before here too.......I just sold a "minty" one with both caps and hood, for $800 (The same lens sold recently on evilbay for $1,000 without the hood). *I sold mine b/c I just bought that "Kreigsmarine" IIIC and needed the cash, the Canon f1.5 and the "Tokyo" f1.4 do all the "Sonnar" work I need now....*
The Nikkor to buy is the "Tokyo" version, (smooth ~ creamy 3-D bokeh like the Canon f1.5) but they are very uncommon ~ you might see 2 if your lucky 3 a year offered online, the "Japan" version is a lot more common.
The lens is a lot more expensive in Europe too as it is here in the states, while there`s more Nicca cameras here to strip of their lenses *poor Nicca`s* 🙁 ~ it`s now a ba*tard orphan camera.....(look and see how many are on evilbay, that NEVER will sell, b/c the Nikkor lens has been taken off it, stupid sellers!)

Well.... I think prices will stay up till you guys talk about some other lenses. But in reality, I'm sure Peter's recent book also have something to do with the recent price trends of Canon LTM lenses.
Anyway, from the description in the auction..
There are a few fine spots at the edge of rear element only, You can see them when seeing only through bright light. A lot a little cleaning marks at front, a few at rear element. No separations, no cloudyness at all.
And one of the picture also show some traces of oil on the aperture blades too, towards the edge.
What would this lens be graded as? Ex-? VG?
Fine spots on the edge of the element would be indicative of potential sign of separation?

Well, I just got a Nikkor 5cm 1.4 and its "Japan" version and I find it great so far. Didnt have much time to test it more, but I think it's very sharp and has great bokeh. Cant see how it could be better, yet. Here is one example:

It`s Bokeh, is very different from the "Japan" version, I prefer it, just as I prefer the Canon f1.5 over a lot of other lenses, it`s all up to each persons personal tastes and uses........

Well, I've "created" other lenses, ie remounting the CZJ Sonnar in LTM. And shimming J-3's for Leica. The Canon does not get as much use as before.
$710 for a Canon 50/1.5. That's more than I paid for the pair of my original LTM Wartime 5cm f1.5 Sonnars.

Ok Brian don`t rub it in.......that`s making me CRAZY!!!!!! That`s the ONLY Lens I`m looking for anymore, I have a very rare "wartime" Leitz Xenon now and another postwar "coated" one in the works the 1941 thru 43 CZJ Sonnar T f1.5/50 is the only thing left for my pallet, to be mounted on my 1943 IIIC K Grey! 😀
